I've been experiencing rattles of the undercarriage. The first item I inspected was the cross member, than the shocks, struts, stablizers, and the exhaust system. When I drive over rough pavement the rattling is the most noticeable. I asked the Ford dealer service tech about the issue and he replied don't worry about it. I'm the type of guy that hates any rattle and determined to locate and correct the annoyance. I haven't completely ruled out the converters though. Are there any other I items that I may have overlooked, such as ballast in the frame rails etc. ?
Thanks!

Find a new mechanic. Any tech that just shrugs off a suspension rattle is a idiot and should switch careers.
Can you be more specific where the noise is?

Zack: Towards the rear on the drivers side and the right front on the passenger's side. I believe to locate the rattle, the rubber has to be on the pavement.
Thanks!

Corey: With the answer he gave me, I realized he was the wrong person to speak with.
I do most almost all the mechanics and let the dealership's handle the recalls.
Thanks!

body mount bolts? I've replaced 6 so far - it did help but was more of a "pop" than rattle.

Check the hood, make sure the bumpers (in front) are making contact. You might want to add these - N804384-S – hood bumpers that mount to the existing slots in the fenders. They are from an Expedition.

I have also heard the emergency brake cable may have too much play in it and that can cause a rattle.

Yes drivers side, underneath back passenger door.
Look to see if cable has slight "hump" or "bow" where cable cover touches underbody.

I'm experiencing about the same thing. I can push down on it when it's parked and you can hear it. I'll try and get a video. It sounds like it's coming from right under the engine, maybe a little forward of that. Maybe endlinks? It held an alignment, but when I hit a bump, it bum steers pretty bad. So, bad I'm not driving it on long trips. My money situation isn't so hot right now, so I have to diagnose and repair it myself. Hope you get it sorted! I'll try and post a video of my noise. I have a few different noises I'm trying to figure out. Found a few of them
