Marauder owner did a Jmod on his Marauder, put it together and immediately lost 3rd and 4th gear. I got the transmission as a core and got it apart to figure out what went wrong. Once I got the valve body removed from the case I found the 2-3 accumulator retainer was installed upside down. Installing the retainer upside down causes the 2-3 accumulator piston to over travel and become wedged in the bore. When this happens direct clutch pressure goes directly to the exhaust and the direct clutch pack fails quickly.
moral of the story; dont install the 2-3 accumulator retainer upside down

Take pics as you disassemble something particularly if you have never disassembled it before.
I also try to take notes of anything I learn that makes it easier.

wise words, sadly some of us are not that smart... myself included. I have had to learn the hard way a few times after tearing something apart and realizing later I have no idea how it goes back together.

Or when you finally get back to working on something. A year later..
