View Full Version : MARAUDER engraved calipers (zack brakes)

lji372

i'm undecided on how i want to do this.
i want to know where the interest lies.
i'd prefer A.

i will only deal with clean calipers for any process, do not send me parts you pulled off your car without properly washing them down.

this will be by prepayment either way.

A. you ship me calipers i engrave and send back
B. i order calipers and ship to you engraved
C. you ship me calipers i engrave/powder coat and send back
D. i order calipers and ship to you engraved and powder coated

(and ANNOYING FOR YOU)

Turbov6Bryan

I picked B

This way you are not liable for possible poor powdercoating process, one less headache for you

We need another thread on best and cheapest place to purchase these calipers, that way you get the best prices

I'm actually indifferent on the choices, Id be willing to do any one of them. Depends on pricing I guess. I don't mind sourcing my own calipers and having them powdercoated then shipping to you but I know there's labor involved with disassembly, masking, etc. And I'm pretty sure you can get better quantity pricing on coating if you do it.

Do you have any pics/sketches of what the final product will look like?

Would be easier to choose if pricing was included

Should be and option E. But A and D work..

Seriously, make it easy on yourself. Offer one design, owners supply parts and paint.

I voted "D", but "C" or "D" would be great. I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out the powder coating shops near me, and I've seen your awesome handiwork in the sample photos.

Okay folks I guess it's time to get a pre-payment order list going.
Sorry I've put this off so long, we picked up at the shop and that always puts hobby parts behind.

I'm only taking prepayment orders.
I will purchase the calipers with brackets on your behalf- disassemble, engrave, powder coat, re-assemble, and ship to your door in the conus for $525. Price is higher than I'd like to charge but the part handling is very time consuming, sorry.
I will do the letters in a different color for an additional $100 (why so much for letters? Because I don't want to do them, they are a pita).
Color options are
Black
Red
Yellow
Blue
(I can do the letters in a chrome powder coat as well)
I'll need 6 to get started.
PayPal to lji_372@yahoo.com with color(include letter color as well) and shipping address.
Expect no less than a 4 week timeline.

"With brackets"? You are powder coating the brackets also?

I already purchased brackets from you. They have been sitting on a shelf. So if I want them coated I send them back? Is the $525 including a set of brackets?

He said that he will buy calipers with brackets, that means he will be buying LOADED or SEMI LOADED calipers that include the caliper MOUNTING bracket, the big bulky bracket the caliper sets inside of

Not the adapter bracket he makes,..

Are your brackets anodized?

yes, powder coating the brackets that come with the calipers.

does not come with the adapter bracket. add $165 if you need those too.

OK, I have the adapters, so I'm good. But I still don't know what you are referring to. I have not had mine apart ever. Have not even had the wheels off.

My F150 calipers mount to two threaded holes. Is the Marauder caliper similar? I thought the adapters were simply moving those holes into position for the new calipers.

The corvette brake caliper does not fit the ford caliper bracket, your truck has a caliper bracket too
Something has to hold that new caliper right? So when you buy calipers buy them semi loaded so it includes the bracket that the caliper nessles into

This is just a random picture

Gccch...

Using the picture above, the brackets of mention are the large open components. The calipers mount to these, and these in turn mount to the steering knuckle. For this upgrade, there's a custom machined bracket that mounts between these caliper brackets and the steering knuckle in order to both allow the Corvette brakes to mount on a Ford, and to set the calipers further out to accommodate the larger 14" brake rotors. The components in the picture are what Jerry is offering. The adapter bracket is not included.

I hope we have been able to address your questions.

OK, I get it now. I always thought a caliper was both those items mounted together. So now I just need to decide what color.

Jerry,

Sorry, one more question. The pics in the other thread show the engraving with a second color for the letters (red caliper, black lettering). Does anyone have a picture of the engraving without the second color? I'm thinking this is not too impressive. Is it really worth engraving the caliper without having the contrasting color in the engraving? What am I missing?
