So took the motor and trans out and the block is done. Hole on the side above the oil pan. Not repairable. Crankshaft as well is done. One of the Pistons as well as some other pieces are shattered and were in the oil pan. Turns out the guy who had it before me didn't tell me and sold me parts for it and still didn't tell me anything. So I spent a lot of time and money for something he could've told me. Anyway, it's the past. So my question is, if I can find another 4.6, should I put that in, or would would putting a 5.0 in be better. I want to put a 5.0 in but don't know if it would fit. It's not the coyote. It's out of an explorer and comes with the trans.

Buy a aviator 4.6 dual overhead cam motor, swap all your marauder specific parts like
Oil pan, oil pickup, timing cover, intake
There are quite a few threads here, it's a direct replacement of your engine if you swap the marauder crap onto it

Forgot to mention. In Germany so it's harder to find 4.6 motor than 5.0

4.6 is overhead cam, 5.0 is a small block push rod.. Best to find a 4.6

Didn't you pay $800 for the car?
And buy it from the military junk yard?

What?? I'm confused. You bought this knowing it needed an engine, so what exactly is the issue?
What parts?

He expected a running driving car for $800, c'mon, it's the new "you owe me everything" generation.........
You should just part it out to the other 4 members in your area....

If you found a Marauder in a junk yard, you can't tell me there aren't Mustangs, Aviators and other 4.6l donors there somewhere...

Mach 1 block also. But how about Mark VIII? Would that block work? Plus couldn't he use a cobra block? I know it's cast iron but it may be more available.

First off, I ain't one of those, "you owe me everything" people. I work hard for all my things and that's how it's always been. Second, I knew something was up with the motor, just didn't know what till I pulled it. I am still happy I bought it. I was just saying it would've been nice for the previous guy to say something when I went and bought a bunch of parts from him. I ain't junking the car. Even if I have to find a motor in the states.

Hey there in K-town... I was at Ramstein when I served.
It's probably going to be tough to find a direct swap engine over there.
In a pinch, you could probably find a 2V 4.6 short block and swap the Marauder top end, timing cover, oil pan, oil pickup tube. It will lose a little compression but you'll be driving American iron on the Autobahn!
DO NOT get rid of the old engine or any of the parts until you have it totally back together and running. There are a few Marauder-specific pieces you don't want to lose since they're obsolete.

So what parts did you buy? The factory intake and misc parts he had left over after installing the Trilogy?

Well you need those to get the replacement engine running anyways because highly doubtful you'll find an actual Marauder engine. They weren't going to do you any good getting the old blown engine running..
Now if you would have said that he sold you a rebuild kit I would understand your frustration.

Doesn't the 2v 4.6 npi come with flattop pistons??

No to the flat tops, depending on the year the dish will have different cc, the 99 cv p71 had the smallest cc dish which works well with 01 or newer heads for added compression
