I was at a restaurant with the wife and kids in Hershey, which is pretty far from home.
When I came back outside, both sides, keyed. Once side, from front parking light, all the way back to the tail light. Other side, on the rear panel
I'm thinking somebody thought it was a cop car.
It was too far from home for it to be a neighbor. Didn't have any traffic incidents prior to pulling in to the restaurant. Didn't park anybody in or pull too close.
I'm not trying to introduce politics, just wondering if anyone else has had this happen recently.
ETA most recent pic. Before getting keyed. Paint was not perfect, but pretty nice.

Any surveillance video?
Similar situation, just had my daily beater 2004 Crown keyed recently, didn't sweat it, but rude a-holes.

I was just like WTF. It was evening, had the wife and kids, they just ate dinner and B-day cake (son's 5th Bday), Mother in Law along for the ride. Not the time to demand surveillance footage, when I'd be out of pocket anyway.
Just annoying. I really like the car. We did the trip out to hershey and back, was a pleasure because its highway manners/performance are so good. It looks sharp too.
So, paint is nice, but is not perfect, and I was considering having some nicks/chips addressed and will just add this to the tally.

Sweet. Money might be tight, but a 8 panel paint job is cheap for 500.00
Take it to your ford dealer after you call your insurance????

I have USAA, so I used their approved shop to schedule an inspection. They're close and have a good name locally. It is a hassle though.

I dropped the car off this morning for an estimate on the keying. I actually missed a spot that the guy at the shop noticed immediately. So, keyed on both sides more or less front to back.
Since I have it there, I also have an OEM spoiler that I'm going to have them put on. I also bought God's head badges and a new grill a while ago. I put the grille and badge on the front myself a few weeks ago, but didn't do the back.
So, lemons into lemonade, I guess.

I have not seen any keying, but I constantly see people who are trying to parallel park particularly when they are in a pick up back up until they hit the car behind them.
When I see it I whale on the horn and flash my lights.
I estimate 7% of people on this Planet would make the World a better place for everybody if they weren't here.

^^^^^^^lol totally agree 👍 Just like the d-bag that parked his tuner boy civic next to me at the rose music center the other night with his wing and busted front ground effects. I parked towards the back out of the way and this twat parks his heap next to me. Granted mines only a grand marquis, but the paint is about 9 out of 10 and I'm trying to keep that way.

$2700 estimate to deal with the vandalism to the paint job. (which will cost me $500)
Stuff I'm getting done since it's there
$300 to install OEM spoiler, paint it, put mercury badge on trunk.

Actually, the number is closer to 25%. The 4$$h0l3 Ratio has been climbing for years.

You are probably right, my calculation was made 11 years ago.
I actually looked at various data when I came up with the 7%. When I recalculate it I will post it.

I got it back on Friday.
Looks good. For now. It's a *****y job.
I paid for some extra paint work up front. Annoyingly, the chipped paint areas (probably from road salt) that I paid to have repainted....
Flaked off. Already. As of yesterday. (saturday)
The paint was so thinly applied, it flaked off like it was put on with nail polish or something.
I get that new paint has to cure, but I should be able to dump a pitcher of water on birdshit and wipe it off with a T shirt, cure or no cure.

Cancel payment from your check or credit card
If the rest that your ins paid, looks like crap, file again cause it's not right
You should have picked a better shop
Sucks man, how's the rest of the crappy job?
"keyed" my own car, drivers door, both sides of the handle, with my belt buckle, I'm tight jaws.

The shop as a pretty good name locally, so I'm disappointed.
Do they mix this paint, or does it come ready for application? It was onion skin thin layered up front.
As for what insurance picked up, if you look at it straight on, it looks fine.
From an angle, it looks, for lack of a better way of putting it, textured. Like you can see ripples.
It's smooth to the touch, but if you look at it from an angle, it looks stippled.
I'm pissed.

The paint should have been base coat, clear coat, I assume from your post that the single stage black is flaking off. If this is the case, you got screwed on that point alone. I said it many times, the factory puts a lot into painting vehicles, to duplicate on the outside you almost have to take your car to a custom, or restoration shop that also does insurance work.

You have what sounds like 'Orange Peel' paint. Call your insurance co. and tell them the shop did crappy work. Also while your on the phone with said insurance co. ask them about a $50 deductible. Bet it only cost a few bucks more. Comp is cheap.

Would literally split someone's wig if I caught them messing with my vehicle.
