Driers from Ford and RockAuto look like steel. Thought someone mentioned there is an aluminum alternative that bolts right in and has the same configuration of tubing. Anyone know what I'm referring to?

Also someone mentioned replacing the orifice thingy (orange) where does that go? It's cheap so if it is something that goes bad I don't mind replacing it.

Thanks gang.:)

Say What ?? Maybe a big bore or a high RPM stroker would help. :o

Yes replace the orifice lower ac line going into heater line, the last couple accumulators I've done were aluminum, Fisher is where I get them

I recently replaced mine. NAPA is aluminum and comes with ALL new o-rings. I removed and tossed the insulating grey foam that collects moisture and debris. My replacement is naked and likes it.

When re-installing, don't tighten the mounting band until after the lines are tight. It will find it proper place to reside. Then tighten band.

Make sure you suck down the system and apply vacuum for 15 min or so. Then new proper volume of oil and refrigerant.

Changed the thread title to avoid confusion with the RAS drier.

Definitely replace with an aluminum one, replace the orifice tube and since the system will be open I'd replace all the o-rings. If the new one comes with insulation use it as it won't hurt the aluminum even if it holds water.

I just got one from Advanced Auto Parts and used the 20% coupon they have online, plus you can add your Speed Perks of you have them.

Caveat emptor: I made the mistake of ordering the Four Seasons accumulator off of RockAuto for my GMQ. It is not the same size as the factory unit. It will connect as intended, but is too 'fat' and will not fit inside the plastic factory case if that's you're thing. Mine is zip-tied and appears closed until you look at it up close.

(Besides, it's steel - didn't know an aluminum one was available when I purchased it)
