I've been digging around on this site and am having a difficult time answering this question. I've got almost 200K miles on my MM and will be lowering and upgrading the sway bars with Addcos. I'm sure my front springs are shot and I hear some folks are having issues with Detroit Springs. Summit has springs for taxi and police applications but if I purchase these I'm not sure how much to cut to achieve a 1" drop. I've already got the camber kits and KYBs for a lowered car referred to in a post here years ago, and this post went through all the spring applications and modifications but I can't find the dang post again and the search function here is not working well. Thanks for your help in advance. You guys ain't nuthin but studs!

Don't cut more than 1 coil. I'd start with 1/2 a coil.

I'm hoping to find someone who has done it with new springs and can give me the exact parts and cut amount. I'm taking the easy way out and using a shop for the work, so It would be nice to do it once and be done. Thanks for your help.

If using new springs I would only start at cutting one full coil. Even after it's been driven for awhile and settled to it's resting place a new set of springs will probably raise it a good 3/4" from where it's currently sitting..

I have had one full coil cut for a decade. It looks good with the wheel arch gap gone but it can be jouncy.

I want to hear from someone here on the front springs, someone has mentioned not to use our marauder springs when ordering. They suggested getting the CV p71 thicker and heavily woven front springs and cutting them down
From what I had read , it still gave a good ride...
Anyone remember the threads? I'd like to try that route myself

Thanks guys for your help. I think I'm going to check out the P71s and cut a coil. I'll post when I'm done.

OK so I decided to cut out one coil and go with new KYBs. It did drop the front about an inch and I'm digging the stance, but boy what a difference in the ride on country roads. I think I'm going to back up and punt now and check out coilsprings.com (thanks Bad_s55) and talk to Detroit as well. I'll let you know how all this works out. Thanks all for your help.

I have detroit 1.5" drop springs all around on my car. It rides terrible (worse than my ranger with 9" of lift) but handles excellent and looks great. You can't have everything. And I don't care enough to spend hundreds of dollars trying to find a happy medium of ride quality vs appearance.

what shocks do you have? factory shocks I've heard do not work well with lowered Marauders. KYB once was the choice, but quality seems to possibly be down and can leak in less than a year

I have KYB shocks on it. They have approximately 60k miles on them and are 4-5 years old. They aren't leaking/blown out. But it does ride harsh.

Leave the springs stock, put the rear tires on the front and buy bigger rear tires.

What springs did you go with that you cut the coil on?
