My beater has 176k and was driven in the Midwest it's entire life. The underside was coated when new and it looks incredible. However, the area under the rocker panels are known to rot if not taken care of. The entire area is a place where water can sit and cause problems.
I got everything prepped, drilled some drain holes and double coated everything with Rust Bullet. I couldn't care less about how the car looks, I just hate Rust.
I'll be doing the front fenders next which are rusty. Be sure to check in the center of the wheel arch, where they all rot

Does that product brush on or spray on? That rust is scary under the rocker covers.

I brushed it but it can be thinned and sprayed.
Scary to think what's on the top side, since it is inaccessible

Rust is why we can't have nice things.

My car will be getting rockers, fenders, and 3 doors this winter. I understand your pain.

I treated the rust twice and 3 times with the 3M stuff, got the rust treatment spray can with the long tip and fogged the rocker cavities the best I could, bondoed and sprayed it with undercoating. All new clips. I'll probably get new rocker covers too next year. $100 each.

But the interior turns to dust from the sun and heat......

The sad truth is rust sucks! I drive my Marauder year round but not when salt is on the road. Yeah well now in I am in Maine and salt is here till April. Fluid film is new to my toolbox. I have a pickup and a jeep for rusting to the ground. My mind is made up- Fix my cars at all costs the best I can. Painting body panels seems easy if I had the right place. A barn or large garage is in the future for Marauder major maintenance. The northeast weather just kills vehicles. But most important time makes most things change.:bigcry:

Did this to my Dads 68 Cougar and my 79 Mark V many, years ago and it is on my list to do to the Marauder...luckily I have no issues as of yet, I keep tabs on the wheel wells and every time I have it in the air I give it a once over...also gonna hit my wife's Impala...
