My car is at a shop in NJ trying to get headers installed. They broke the first stud and called me to say it could be $2k if more break etc. Does anyone know a good shop that knows what they're doing when it comes to dealing with broken studs? I don't have time to do it myself and I need the car for transportation.

They should douse it with penetrating fluid and let it sit for 24 hrs minimum.

Everyone I've ever snapped was only the head of the stud. After removing the manifolds the rest of the stud walked out with ease. Just my experience.

The shop is turning down the job because they are too busy and don't want to get involved. Yes the stud broke at the head.

I get its all about money, but not every job is wrench on wrench off. I need someone willing to deal with real world issues and find a yes instead of finding the no

I would gladly pay a member here to knock it out if they are relatively close.

What all is getting installed full exhaust? I could do the header install I'm probably a good drive for you tho and I'd need the car and few days harford co md. As others have stated most of the time they break off and leave that 1/4 you can grab with vise grips, it takes a little patience to get really bad ones, I have seen one scenario we had to pull a head and have 4 studs machined out
