After developing what sounded like a nasty knock, I decided to pull the motor.. was almost positive it was rod knock, but to my surprise the bearings looked pretty damn good. However there is some marking on these as you can see..Just wanted some opinions on whether this is normal wear.

Oh and also if someone can verify this is the correct 8 bolt flexplate that would be great...! I think it is but it seems there was alot of controversy over it

That's the correct 8bolt flexplate , however there was an issue with the torque converter bolt holes properly lining up , i had to enlarge the bolt holes on a install i recently did , not a big deal as long as you catch it before the motor goes in.

I had a knock years ago in a trilogy car i bought.
Wasn't too bad of a knock either.
This was the bearing.

Moral of the story: Your bearings don't look like they would cause a knock

Thanks zack.. I will find out forsure today but I believe it is going to be coming from the crankshaft sprocket...Im almost positive this is what happened:

Those bearings look ok, some wear on them. I do not see evidence of trash going through, nor high detonation pings

Since it's apart, put new rod and main bearings in it. Have you checked alll the bearings?

I checked all the rod bearings, those were the worst. I dont want to pull the crank if I dont have to...

debris in rod bearing look fresh. your gear & key certainly look like culprits for debris. either gear or key has bad metallurgy or valve train is overloaded for some reason . be sure to disassemble oil pump & relief valve inspect, clean or replace as necessary. main bearing are generally much more forgiving then rod bearings. if I didn't want to pull the crank (based on oil pump inspect) I would roll a set of mains in for what's its worth

Actually, a flex plate broken like that will sound like a rod knock too.

the driver side tensioner is 100% collapsed, i can fit my index finger between the tensioner guide and chain. violent, knocking, braaaap noise was coming from front of drivers side cam cover.

That's funny in the sense that our mechanic at work was just telling me about broken flex plates he has seen over the years.

Joe. That last pic looks like 4 bolts were loose, look at the wear they cut into the surface

Motown was right, Torque converter bolt holes are just ever so slightly off.
