Went to my first drag race this weekend at Route 66 in Illinois. Went with a friend who had VIP passes, sat in a sky box, sat in a tent right next to Brandon Berstein, man those things are cool and so loud, especially from 5 feet away. Interesting crowd too, quite diverse and ironic to me, all the Beer companies and thousands of people drunk out of their mind. I left early to avoid the beer rage and the dangers. I had a great time going to all the vendors as well. The guy from Auto Meter was saying how goofy Ford was to do what they did with the oil pressure.

Have done plenty of Autocrossing before but in all of my 40 years I have never taken a car to the drag strip or even watched one in person. That's really ironic considering what a car geek I am.

I hear ya Steve. As much as I've been into fast cars for decades, as well as fast bikes, it was merely one years ago this month that I saw my first drag race, and it was the summer nationals at Raceway park in Englishtown, New Jersey. It was amazing as well as addicting to watch and hear those dragsters and funny cars do the 1/4 mile in the 4 second bracket. And BTW, last year was also the first time that I ever raced a car myself at the dragstrip. I then just had to take my car a second time to another track as well to race it again. I luved it.

There is an NHRA funny car sponsored by CMKX-treme.. they are a mining company, looking for diamonds in saskatchewan.. Jeff Arend is the cars driver he's the fastest Candian driver ever.

The stock sells for only .0001, they call it the lottery stock. I have dozens of millions of shares.. got your lottery tickets yet?

I last went there during the fall races. My first time too. I want to go there again so badly but I can't afford it! You have to stand by the christmas tree in order to feel the ground shake! I think these drivers are crazy!

How much is it, I don't even know. I think I'll take my kids soon to see the demolition derby. As for the ground shaking, I just entered the sky box when the first funny car took off, even though the sound was muted through the glass, the force shook my stomache, scared the h*ll out of me. That was so cool. I also was right next to the engine rebuild, they were taking their time as it was qualifying night and it only took them 90 minutes.

 I'm with you! Most of the people I've met are friendly, and out for a good time, too. Everytime I've been to the track (racing), I've had a blast, both figuratively and literally ;) I'm anxious to take the MM done the 1/4, but have promised myself to give it a good break-in period, first.

Anyone living near a lake where drag boat competition is held should try to attend an event.

If you believe the drag cars are something to hear...get real close (waters edge) to a TOP FUEL drag boat at launch and it will literally suck the air from around you!!

Many run 1/8th mile traps in excess of 200 mph!!

All top drag boats use engines and technology similar to NHRA dragsters.
Crowds may be smaller but the action at waters edge is something that will linger in your memory for a long time.

Imagine trying to ski behind one!!
Yes, its been done...but NOT by me!!

Cars and boats...I LOVE 'EM.
