Hello all, So i'm thinking my LCM has had it's last day. In the day time the taillights and side markers work just fine. At night all of a sudden the taillights, fogs, and side markers come on for 3-5 seconds then I literally hear a click and all three go out. Seemed like it noticed it was dark and shut down. Is this the indication that the LCM is bad?

Yes.. that sounds about right. I just replaced mines a few weeks ago because the headlights would randomly turn off while driving then back on after a min or so

A relay in the module goes bad. Got to open it up, desolder it, solder in a new one.
A relay is a switch which may be the click you hear.
Not only does fastblackmerc fix them, he was nice enough to go over the steps here http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=45131

@ the OP: you say the taillights, the side markers and the fogs all go out together...what about the headlights? The LCM issue *usually* affects just the low beams. Also, the fog lamps don't even go through the LCM at all. They're a direct wire from the fog lamp relay.

Lots of rain?
Wires in the wiper motor are wet , corroded too
Sounds like wet contacts causing the headlights to turn on and off with the twilight sensor
My 03 would turn the head lights at night without the head light switch in the auto selection
If you have a cloudy day, mine did it until I R/R the LCM then the wiper motor and harness fixed it

Let me explain what I repair in the LCM...........
The factory relays are 10A units. The first relay to go is usually the headlight relay because there is more than 10A going thru it. I replace that relay with an external 30A or 40A relay which is easily replaced if it goes bad.
The other 3 relays inside are for all the other lights. I replace them with 20A relays.
I also guaranty my work for as long as the vehicle is running.

There are four identical relays in the LCM, any of which can fail. I replaced the one for the headlights a few years ago, the one for tails/fogs just a few weeks ago.
Your assertion that the foglight circuit doesn't include the LCM is incorrect. There's a foglight 'on' relay in the LCM, and a foglight 'bypass' relay in the battery box, iirc.

Stogie is correct...I missed a section of the wiring diagram. There is a control line from the LCM that goes to a fog light cutoff relay, which is separate from the fog light power relay. The wiring diagram shows both being in the BJB, but the owner's manual only shows the power relay there...

This happened to me while driving at night, while my daughter was following us, when she
called my wife on her cell phone to inform us about the no taillights. Needless to say I used
my four way flasher all the way home for about 90 miles.
