The other day I noticed one of my lug nut caps went missing. At first I thought the autobody guy was stealing them because I had solid lugs! Well, no. After 13 years I learned that our lugs are capped. Thanks one more time to the peanut gallery for always making me more smrt.
Our stock ones are acron bulge 60 degree seat, 1.4" tall, 1/2" thread width, 20 thread turns/inch, 13/16 hex.
I picked the Gorilla lifetime lug nuts. Part #: 61188 (bulk) / 61187 (clamshell).
The regular one, which is cheaper, is part #: 91188/91187/91187b (bag)
There are 2 mindsets for security lugs:
1) An amateur thief will just screw up the security lug or your wheel trying to get it off. Or they are a pro and will have the key. Just call insurance after.
2) A thief is looking for a quick steal. If you do anything to impede them then will move on to easier targets/they won't be prepared for keyed lugs.
Both are valid, I just happen to be in the first camp. Ymmv. Please don't turn this into a flamewar.
Here is some pics.
First, here is how they look on my wheels (my car has lived outside its whole life. I'll get them refinished soon, I swear! stop laughing!)

and second, our oem after a life outside, the gorilla, ours uncapped, and the cap. Some of the caps held up very well, still shiny. Some were in bad shape. Some were still snug, some could be pulled off by hand. Some have a little alignment line on the top, some have '20-1/2' marked on them. But not all. odd.
One thing to note is that the oem has this little point to the cap ends. No aftermarket one i've looked at have this. Oh well :(

Nice Nuts!
Ha! Beat Joe to it...
I have always used "The System".
http://www.gorilla-auto.com/the-system
Reasons:
~They prevent the quickie thief, he moves on to the next vehicle w/o locks
~Each lug is a lock = 5 per wheel = even more discouraging to the thief
~They prevent wheel assembly imbalance the single locks can cause
~The appearance is sharp looking to the eyeball
Best price I found was amazon.com $40 for full set of 20.

My girl once had her car window broken to steal her cds. The door was unlocked. Don't harsh the buzz, no need for the violence, bra!

I say leave everything out on the sidewalk with a stack of boxes and a few wagons. A sign that says "For Sale" and that way they know it's worth their time to take it.
I mean it's all insured.
Just give it to them!

I need to replace my nuts as well :D
I never run locking lug nuts, if they really want the wheels, they will get them regardless is how I always looked at it.
