Hey guys, I'm looking to replace my ride height sensor due to the fact the the connecting rod (that snaps over the two ball joints) keeps falling off on its own. Does anyone know if the Grand Marquis/Town Car has the same sensor setup as the marauder?

So the part number from ford is 8W1Z-5359-A and those all seem to be about $205. And from searching around I find Dorman parts #924-260 and #924-261 for about $100.

Can anyone shine some light on the correct part? Other than the FoMoCo one that is.

Thank you! A new one? What brand? I can wait if you want to sell it.

If that falls through I have a used OEM I'd sell.

According to tascaparts, it's the same ride-height sensor for the Marauder, the MGM, and the Crown Vic, but the TC has a different part number.

As with anything Dorman, caveat emptor. I'd wait for the one from 03Merc...

EDIT: research shows those Dorman ones are for the Expedition/Navigator. They don't list one for our cars.

Go to a local salvage yard and get one from a Lincoln town car for about $10

If you're stuck you should be able to turn the ball portion of where the arm attaches, if you look closely those balls can get worn out and the arm does not stay on. Rotate the actual ball 45 to 90 degrees and you should be OK. I had to use a vice grip to grab a hold of it.

I did that to my MGM I had a while ago and I was good for a another few years.

The assemblies are prone to corrosion. We lost ours on the way to MV14 this year. Had a brandy new one put in while out there. Good idea to check the assembly out if you have the car on the lift to make sure yours is in good shape.:)

Yeah I realize those are for the expedition from dorman, but that number does pop up for grand marquis when searching around. Does anyone know any other brand to buy other than oem? Or at least proof of another brand that works? All this cross referencing is getting confusing.

Sounds good. Can I ask why you have a used oem sensor? Did you go with a different brand or did you get rid of the air system and go with coil springs?

When I was having problems with my air ride I bought it off Ebay.I paid $75.It turned out I didn't need it.
When something is wrong with the car the first thing I do is throw parts at it.Not the correct way of doing things I know.It is what it is.
You can have it for $65.

I'm selling my 03 and I have some spare parts and manual I'll list in The Parts FOR SALE forum when the car is actually gone.

If you want it pm me.

I had one that kept falling off -- I just bent the stainless steel spring/retainers to make it a tighter fit, and it hasn't fallen off since.
