He is rebuilding his motor in his home garage ..... by himself. Including installation of the ADTR blower.

Man that is simply beautiful!!!!

I recall calling shotgun first, however, if I recall, you need direct line of site to said vehicle, AND immediate access to seat (i.e. Walking to car to get in and drive).

I am content with right rear seat.

Thank you all. Getting close to the finish line.

Of course, Lifespeed is already out performing with me the oil circulating Vortech blower (vs a sealed unit) and his custom 9.0 rear end from Maier Racing (http://www.maierracing.com/). Good news is I will receive the same blower from ADTR and 9.0 rear end from Mike Maier following Lifespeed paving the way.

NA is finished except for a fuel control issue. We need to regulate the fuel for the return system to match needs of idle - full throttle. Any ideas? Once done, the car can be base tuned for 1000 mile break-in. The motor sounds awesome.

Then, tune for max NA performance (try to beat Fordnut at 378 rwhp), install SW full exhaust system and dyno (early July). I am having full knee replacement surgery in early June, so I will be out of commission for many weeks.

BRG Racing will build the custom steel hood. Without it, I cannot mount the Kenne Bell blower, parts and re-tune for low 500 rwhp. (July)

lifespeed
05-11-2018, 04:48 PM
It idle you're dumping all the fuel from those massive pumps back into the tank. Is the return line large enough? I seem to recall he re-purposed the evap canister line. What kind of regulator are you using, Aeromotive? Is it referenced to manifold vacuum? KC should know all this.

Bypass fuel systems are not complicated, if the pressure is too high either the regulator is broken or enough fuel isn't dumping to the tank. My guess is you have too much pump for your return line.

I have all new 1/2" fuel lines. The fuel pressure regulator is the Injector Dynamics F750 (http://injectordynamics.com/id-f750-fuel-filter/). I will ask if it is referenced to the manifold vacuum.

You need to disconnect the vacuum line and set your static pressure on the regulator with the car running. Set it to around 48 psi as a starting point. Once your good, re connect the vacuum line and verify it reads 39-40 PSI.

Once you add boost, add 1 PSI for every pound of boost to 40 (approximate) as your new static target number.

Can't wait until yours is done man. I am swapping out my headers, MAF to pass CA smog tired of paying the mod tax every 2 years;) if I do a blower it will be Vortech non IC so I can get the Carb EO tag then do an IC separately. I don't know of any other build like this on the Left coast. you better enter that mofo in good guys next year where I'll join u;)

Chayton and Lifespeed have similar setup. Lifespeed bought the oil cooled version of the ADTR Vortech blower and has a custom Livernois 5.3L Stroker with forged internals. To my knowledge, I will be the only Cali Marauder with Kenne Bell 3.2LC Mammoth.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel. No sounds of a train, so I believe I am near. My marauder goes on the dyno this week for base tune and CA Smog. BRG Racing is sorting a fluctuating voltage from the fuel system to the ECU, which requires a fixed voltage. A simply voltage regulator circuit should suffice. Also, the LED digital fuel gauge shows full when the tank is near empty.

I will take pictures and videos (YouTube post) of dyno run and picking up my car. After motor break-in, I return for installation of full SW exhaust, anodize some engine parts and dyno tune for performance.

* complete front JRI coilover mounts and install JRI RIde Control in center console
* dyno and tune for motor break-in
* Marty to drive the car 1000 miles - break that girl in
* install ADTR V2 supercharger
* tune the car (1. Pass CA Smog; 2. Haul Ass)

A few engine pictures before Marty works his magic (completes work on the engine, clean up engine bay, add the ADTR V2 blower, build JRi front coilover mounting brackets, more polished pulleys, re-powder coat valve covers gun metal, etc.). Ignore the cold air tube - it will not be there very long. Also, overflow bottles (radiator and power steering) being replaced/moved.

Today I received a pm from a member that, I believe, saved me a headache down the road.

"I want to ask you a question if I may...

If a centri SC is in the plans why didn't you go with an 8 rib setup?
The single bolt tensioner (thump RRR or not) wont hold off belt slip once you start to make real power. It will be a weak spot in your build."

Wow! So respectful and helpful. I hope the member reveals their identity. But, out of respect for their privacy, I cannot.

This is a typical example of the members here: always willing to help. Given my low knowledge of cars in general, I need all the help I can get.

I hereby agree. See you Spring of 2019.

In related news, once my car is ready, my wife wanted to fly out to Georgia with me to, meet Martin, his wife and Marty's partner before driving back home together! Yikes, that's five days in a car with my wife. And there is no way in hell I want my wife to know Marty's wife. Car knowledge aside, this is about survival! :help:

I share with my wife we could not drive the car together, as Martin wants to take my baby to car shows. Martyo had no such idea; I asked him to consider it for me. You know, like Kindig It / Bitchin Rides (http://www.kindigit.com/) keeps cars for up to 3 years before the owner gets the car! She looked at me with skepticism and asked, "when do you get the car back?" I replied, "when Marty says I can have it back.' :D

Now this was sheer brilliance on my part - I threw Marty under the bus. He has not even worked on my car yet and my wife has it in for him. That is the mark of a true car restomod professional.

I’m hurt I’m being removed, I feel so alone now....:depress:

Good move on sending your car to Marty, his guys thrive on Marauder builds, they’ll do you well.

I understood the reason to remove the cars I did was they are not examples of busy engine bays. I thought I might have upset someone and the member was trying to help me out telling me to remove said pics.

You know I love your car. If you wanted to sell your car three years ago, I would have bought it for $40K in a NY second AND I could have avoided sleeping in the garage the last two years!

Marty will clean it up in time for his new reality Velocity car show, 'Mo's Speed Shop'.

I have no problem asking you on the public forum. I asked in PM because I didn't want to give the impression I was piling on your build, not did i want to give the impression i was jealous of what you've put together.

Since you obviously dont mind please explain how is it your finished product will be powered by a centri (keep in mind you sent the car to a "speed shop",,, they didn't do a 3 bolt timing cover or an 8 rib setup?
I have to admit I was expecting both considering this is now the most expensive MM in the world.

Looks like a great car for the Hot Rod Tour.

What is the thinking behind the 9.0 rear end?

I want a fully independent rear-end suspension (IRS) to improve cornering capabilities. Lifespeed and I are not interested in straight line speed as much as cornering. I think (not know) a 9.0 IRS would do wonders to yield better overhaul handling. A IRS would also support JRi rear coilovers vs separates.

Supposedly, new IRS systems deliver what I seek.

Can a Marauder hold its own on the track with a Lamborgini?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To make a short story long I own an 04 DTR Marauder. It has had all the Dennis, Zack/Mac majic done to it. In the past 2 years it has won 3rd then 2nd place in the All Ford Nationals at Carlisle, PA.
I am a member of the Eastern Pantera Club. We co sponsor a track event at Pocono International Raceway yearly with various other Italian Car Clubs such as Lamborgini, Maserati, and Ferrari. Since my Pantera is in pieces I asked and was permitted to bring the Marauder to the track to run. As I stated in a post a while back I am not a drag racer. I use my car every day and in the snow so I opted for a centrifigul vs. roots type supercharger. I have not changed my rear end ratio. I do however like to run in track events.
Well I lined up to run with 19 other cars, all newer model Italian high performance exotic cars. We run NASCAR wise, counter clockwise. We used turn 1, turn 2, then an infield course that has a 270, three 90's, two 75 degree turns and a chicane, then we enter back onto the main staight with 2/3 of that straight available before turn 1.
Well boys and girls I have to tell you after 5 laps everyone in attendance was looking at this Canadian maufactured, Dearborn Sedan. It ate cars like it was at an Italian buffet. Not only did the Marauder hold it's own on the banked turns it passed most and stayed with the best of them in the infield. Comming out of the infield onto the main straight I devoured them. The available touque was awsome. I ran with the antilock brakes and overdrive off. Down the straight going into turn one, 135 mph+ easy. 130 mph+ into turn 2 and an average speed through the infield of 60+ mph.
The transmission mods worked great, that baby knew when to down shift upon hard braking. The supercharger spun up smoothly so the ass end never kicked out. Dennis's total package and the Zack/Mac control arms worked flawlessly.
After I came off the track nearly everone came over to see the car. Most of these folks told me they thought it was a joke putting the DTR on the track against these 6 figure cars. On day two I repeated the same results. No fluke.
A lot of exotic car owners have a new found respect for our "Family Sedans / Cop Cars". Needless to say I had a blast.
Sorry for the long story but I just had to brag a little. Enjoy your Marauders they are all special.

Need it? I do not understand. On a more serious note, the theory is sound. Someone has to install an IRS with high performance front and rear coilovers to qualify the benefits. Of all our members, Lifespeed is who I would ask first.

I get someone saying, 'why didn't you just buy a late model muscle car or something'? I live my Marauder and enjoy making the most out of the car.

All done with the only suspension mod - "Zack/Mac control arms".

Damn! And you explained well need vs want.

Imagine the exotic car owners continually see a Marauder hanging with them. I would love to have heard what they were saying.

I installed 8-rib on mine, not going to puzzle over belt slippage problems as I adjust the boost to meet my goals. And an older Cobra 3-bolt timing cover to support the herky tensioner. Might want to have a discussion with myself, Chris and Marty on your new supercharger drive setup.

I don't know, my MM corners like a sports car.

I blow everyone's mind when I take 40mph curves at 60/70mph perfectly flat and glued to the road.

Don't see the need for IRS cost, put the $ elsewhere.

Set the MM up with available RS goodies and some sticky rear tires (MT drag radials 12"wide) and see what it does. You'll like! :banana2:

a. sterling charcoal gun metal valve covers with blue inserts
b. indigo blue fuel rails
c. Metco pulleys with glossy black outer with polished inner

Not saying you should give up on a dream.

Just saying try what's available 1st.

If the end product doesn't meet your expectations, then go after the IRS.

Just before Christmas, 2018, MO's Speed Shop discovered my motor was destroyed - starved by oil. The line from the oil pump to the engine was twisted/crimped due to excessive torque during installation. Other issues played a role in the motor's failure. In early January, 2019, a new short block was ordered from Livernois (same specs as before). I had to wait a few weeks for customer orders placed before me to complete. Next week, the completely assembled motor (short block, heads, balancer, etc. will be shipped to MO's Speed Shop for installation into my Marauder. KC, BRG Racing owner, paid for the new short block, parts and labor of both Livernois and MO's Speed Shop for engine removal, analysis, build, shipping and re-installation! The monies will exceed $15,000.00! I am grateful KC showed integrity of the highest level paying for all that was required.

Last week, I ordered from Chris, owner of ADTR.net, the Vortech V3-Si supercharger with all the trimmings. It will arrive at MO's Speed Shop eight weeks from now.

Many other issues on my Marauder need attention, which Marty is addressing one-by-one. I am guessing all work will complete July 2019.

Meziere's website application guide sucks. I had to contact them to ask why the app states none of their pumps pumps work on a Ford 4.6. Ends up they say that because a bracket on Mustang 4.6 interferes with there pumps. 4.6 non-Mustang is fine.

NEVER going to fall for that question again!

I’m being serious. Will there be some cruising time before the fall?

Also, what ever happened to getting an N/A time slip? I guess logistics kind of kill that goal now.

Could have had Jeff run it for ya! He had no problem piloting mine a bit sideways at 115! [emoji43]

Marty has everything installed except wiring up the JRide system for the JRi coilovers. Engine start and test, Stainless Works full exhaust, all gauges working (at idle), etc. are done.

Next is cleaning up the engine bay to look like it is headed to a car show, reinstall the stereo system (two batteries in trunk), install hood liner and led lights, etc.

Then, drive it around to put some miles on the engine, tune the engine/blower/transmission, corner weight and take to a road track to properly adjust JRi settings. Final tune adjustments.

Finally, detail and load on Reliable Carrier to come home (November 2019). The Marauder already has a home waiting for it - https://www.karparkauto.com/

Assuming there are no more surprises,............ Many, many things I had paid for had to be replaced (besides the entire engine, oil pan & pickup, , :
* entire custom fuel hat and return lines did not work
* wiring under the dash and engine bay was the work of complete incompetence - had to be completely redone at significant cost to me
* new gas tank mounting screws where hammer through my back set cabin! Holes had to be repaired and the tank mounted properly.
* custom mounts for fuel rails were not built properly - worthless. I had to buy new rails and standard mounts (custom was never needed).
* and I am too pissed off to name the rest

Marty and Jeff continue efforts to provide me a professionally re-modded Marauder. The work done by MO's Speed Shop is the only joy I have had from my car in years.

Seeing your mishimoto intercooler made me think of this question: Has anyone painted their intercooler black? How do you do it? Is it ok to do so? Mine overshadows the beautiful grill in the Florida sunlight.

Lowndex
01-23-2020, 11:47 PM
It is my humble understanding the painted radiator will not cool as well. Ant paint you add will be somewhat of an insulator. Thus, the product is produced as is.

Two years ago, I started on a thread on this subject and was schooled by the experienced owners here.

I apologize for being absent from the forum. COVID-19 has been all consuming.

Largely to do with COVID-19, my car remains at MO's Speed Shop. Work on fixing or replacing many items from the previous shop has occupied the restoration for the last many months: new fuel pickup and pumps, new gas tank, weld rear trunk and seat holes from improper mount of the gas tank, new fuel lines, new power steering pump to work with hydro boost system, new fuel rails and mounts, and much, much more. Close at $35,000 and counting!

We are in the home stretch. Until my car is arrives on my doorstep, I asked Marty to send me his red Z06 Vette for me to use. I assume he is still thinking about it. He's such a sweetie.

I will post pics and videos when Marty purchases a decent mobile phone.

Sincerely,

Jeff is test driving my baby to find and fix whatever arises. Suspension tuning is near: corner balancing, setting up the JRi coilover shock settings for daily and haul-ass use. Recall, I can set suspension parameters via a remote. I am sure most of you will say, 'what is daily drive for'? :)

Other things remain: painting the nose, detailing the car (outside and inside) and a MOs Speed Shop engine badge!

Marty has trained me to not ask, "when will it be done". As I need Marty and Jeff much more than they me, I try my best to behave. Although Marty recently did mention he is getting a new mobile number. Don't know what that's all about.

sailsmen, figured I’d try here as well. Would love to see some pics and videos of his car... saw it at the shop back in December 2019.

MO's Speed SHop has completed the project. COVID-19 cost us all and this project delayed many months. This is not a complaint, just the reality of keeping Marty, Jeff and all the workers safe.

I will post pictures soon. Marty never did get a new iPhone, so getting videos and pictures has been a challenge. :)

I would be more than happy to meet up with you and take high quality HD photos and videos of it, in exchange for going on a ride along lol! No seriously, I remember seeing the car at BRG racing when this all began!!!! wow! Let me know. Im across the bridge from Concord but work all over the bay area and then some. Would be cool to link up!

The COVID-19 supply chain issue cost me many months. As of today, Reliable Carriers set to pick up my baby from MOs Speed Shop in 2-4 weeks. The best part of the last 7 years is unquestionably Marty Ochs!!!
