Just picked up an 03 with 8900 miles on it. It is showroom new. Totally beautiful. Bought it from a consigner, so i don't know what fluids have been changed. Would it be advisable to change the tranny fruid?

If you are capable, change all fluids and start driving it immediately. :) Nice find.

Transmission fluid doesn't need to be changed on a time basis unless severely abused, so I would say no.

Change the oil and drive it.
Great find, with such low miles.
I'd like to find another one like that to set aside in storage until I need another one.
Just hit 279k on one of mine.

Drive it. Too pretty of a car to keep hidden. Plus it will boost your ego once all the compliments start. I'm sure most of the members here will agree to that. I get compliments almost every time I drive mine.

Drive it if not your are just saving it for the next guy. I know I have some like that. But would be sad to see this car on the salty winter roads. Save all the driving for the good weather.

Honest 8900 miles, first owner had it ten years, put 7000 miles on it, second owner had it just a few years.
I think the few options it does NOT have are sunroof and heated seats.
I drove a really nice grand marquis about 12 years ago that I liked, always liked large body cars, but the new wife hated it so we sold that move on to other cars.
Finally convinced her to let me get another Marquis, t
hen I kinda did a switch on her and got the MM. LOVE IT.
Still workin on how to put pics here in a post. Every forum is a bit different but i did create an album so far and added pics.

I've seen mention of 'model 300' on this forum. How can I learn more about that, as well as what would be stock on my particular car. For example is my air intake stock, are my drilled and slotted calipers stock. I 'THINK' it's stock, looking for location on this forum where I can understand more.

congrats and great find. I found my second one a few months ago and it had 15k on it. So I completely understand not wanting to drive it!
it looks to have the common mods for the car. Put it on a lift to check exhaust, sway bars and rear control arms. With the intake and drilled/slotted rotors, I wouldn't be surprised if it also has some suspension upgrades.
Other things I would check for would be tune and 4:10s, as they are common upgrades as well. Although, you can't exactly look for them...

Ford Carlisle is the largest gathering of Ford and related car show/gathering in the World. We usually get around 50 Marauders up on Marauder Mountain. It's a fun weekend the first weekend in June. Once we get a little closer to the date there will be more posted about it.
here is some general info.

You may also be interested in the annual regional Marauder Louisville Ky. gathering. I think it's in April 2017. Info for that is starting to be posted.

I would now know what stock vs mod sway bars or exhaust look like unfortunately. Somebody got into the computer though as the shifts are super hard. Knocks the tires lose going into third if I get on it all the way.

Its tuned. Did the car come with a programmer (SCT XCal 3, X3 or X4, for example)?
Measure the diameter of the front/rear sway bars. We'll be able to tell you if stock or not. Could also take a picture and we may be able to tell. For rear control arms, check to see if they are beefier billet style. Could also take pic and we can tell you right away.
For exhaust, most people remove the rear cats. or change mufflers. If only one set of cats, then there was exhaust work. I have pics from when I did this recently in the exhaust forum. The stock mufflers look ugly and I believe are "ribbed" on the outside. If there are smooth mufflers, then it has aftermarket mufflers. Usually aftermarket mufflers have the manufacturer printed right on them.

Not stock rotors and from the pic the C/A's look like Metco's. Hard to tell about the sway bars w/o knowing the dia. in mm. I don't remember if Addco is stamped on the bigger bars. Can't see the Watt's link but if the C/A's are Metco the Watt's link probably is as well if it was changed.
Turbov6Bryan
12-12-2016, 05:35 PM
Those look like stock lower control arms
Look how thin they are
If they were metco, they would be billet aluminum not stamp steel
Maybe tell us how skinny the rear lower control arms are??
Black&Gifted
12-12-2016, 06:46 PM
Agree with Bryan, the rear control arms look like the stamped stock ones.
Exhaust looks stock as those are the stock mufflers.
Can't tell on sway bars. Addco's aren't stamped with their name but everyone that I've seen usually have a white sticker with the part number. 690 for the rear and 2196 for the front. In doing a close up on one of the pics, the rear end links look stock, but that's not to say they weren't reused.

The numbers and the orange/red paint on your differential made me wonder if you had a "pre-production" car.
Your VIN, I think, would have started with a 600.

^^^What Mr. Man said. Give Ford a call to get your certificate. Will be about $50 and you'll find out where your car is in the build sequence.
Sometimes (depending on who answers the phone), they will give you the build number.
Still cool to have the certificate.

They are the early cars built to test the car design and assembly process. Very early cars are typically destroyed, while later pre-production cars get sold at auction. I think there were 25ish pre-production 2003 Marauders sold?
