Sounds crazy right? Yes, it is! Can't figure out the problem. All of this started after I did a header install.

Here's what I've replaced:

1. Fuel Pump
2. Fuel Pressure Sensor
3. Primary O2s
4. Idle Air Controller
5. MAF
6. Air Filter
7. New Tune

The car fires right up first thing in the morning, no issues at all. I drive it for 5-10mins. Shut it off, try to turn it back over, literally will not start until I hit the gas pedal, sometimes I have to hit the gas pedal a few times. It's been getting extremely annoying and embarrassing so I'm about ready to sell the car just because of this issue. Pls lmk if You have any experience with this same problem. Thank You!

How much do you want for the car?

Maybe consider bringing it too a ford dealer if you can't get anyone else to give you a good idea whats causing the problem. Being it started after you did the headers check any wireing in the area around the headers . If you sell the car Then you would have to buy another & the amount of money wasted would be far more than just bringing it in too someone to get fixed.

Why did you throw parts and money at it, instead of doing diagnosis?

More than what it is worth. Just because of the money I put into it. Will be hard to let it go but for the right price I will.

What's the TPS voltage at rest? Did anything melt on the EGR tube? What's the engine vacuum?

Exhaust velocity may be to slow after the header install. What's the diameter of your exhaust. We know you went bigger but how big?

No problem! Just thought I'd carry over some advice from a co worker who HAD the same issue and was able correct it. Point taken[emoji6] best of luck chasing the issue.

A wild guess... adjust the throttle stop on the throttle body to open the throttle slightly.

These cars run just fine wide open headers.

Myth busted..

Who's "New Tune" is it and can you return to "OEM Tune" to see if the tune might be the problem??:dunno:

I was referring to the exhaust velocity comment.

Do you have a stock TB? If your IAC and wiring are up to par you should not have to touch the set screw.

In order I would test the new IAC, MAF, and the ECT sensor on the drivers side.

This is a good website for diagnosing.

I cant remember if these cars need a IAC relearn when replaced. I know i had to do one on my mothers 2006 explore with 4.6 2v. Same IAC as ours.

Also, before i fixed my mothers car, she had a random issue where the truck would just die sitting at a red light. she would also have to press the gas to get it to fire.

The plug for her IAC had spread pins and would stop making contact. Once your car is warm your plug or your harness might be startig to fail. Basically in a nut shell, its related to your IAC or MAF.

Keep it simple, im sure you have went over everything, go over it again, slowly and really look. if you disconnected the battery when you did the headers its possible its a tune/relearn issue.

As a mechanic of twenty some years my first guess was IAC valve, too ****ducking to make sure head isn't being torn off****.... but nevermind.
