A Marauder for Ripley's Believe It Or Not........
I guess we would all expect it sooner or later........... to some an automobile is just a method to get from Point A to Point B.
I was in Richmond, Virginia and saw what appeared to be a black 2003 Marauder sitting in a parking lot. Something just didn't look right, as in "light reflections" or my eyes playing tricks on me, so I turned around and went back to look at it. The car still had the entire winter's worth of salt on it from the roadways. You could scrape it off and reuse it in February during the next snow storm. There wasn't a single body panel that didn't have a dent ranging from the size of a football to the size of a watermelon. The right front fender was jammed into the passenger's door. The front wheels were black with disc pad dust. The front grille was busted out. The trunk and rear bumper cover were caved in as if the driver had backed into something, perhaps a tree or telephone pole. The trunk was being held closed with a coat hanger. The tires were totally worn out, as in SLICK! The windows had never been cleaned and appeared to have dog slobber all over all of them, even the windshield. It had a $39 dollar tint job, with bubbles forming on all windows. It had two city stickers on the windshield, as in too lazy to remove the 2003 decal when the driver applied the new 2004 decal.
After the above, I had to step closer and look inside, I didn't care if the driver showed up or not. The back floorboard had cups and paper trash from every fast food restaurant on the East Coast. The back seat had dirty clothes laying everywhere which included what appeared to be several corrections officer uniforms. The dashboard appeared to have an inch of dust on it. The driver's side headrest appeared as if it had been chewed up by a rabid dog. The passenger's side headrest was totally missing.
Murphy's Law............. I did not have any of my digital cameras with me. I probably wouldn't have posted pictures if I had taken any. It would make most of here violently vomit just viewing them.
I'm not kidding....... if the driver/owner had shown up, and said "it's for sale if you like it!", I would not have given him $1,000.00 for the car.
The only good thing I can say about the car...... if the body damage was from other people running into him/her..... the car has been paid for just with insurance checks issued to him for the damages over time.
Ohhh........... did I mention........ the Marauder must have been parked very shortly before I spotted it and did a U-turn to go back and look at it. A terrible combination of oil burn odor and transmission burn odor was coming from it.
In my entire life of 50 years, I can not recall ever seeing a 18 month to 24 month old car looking so ragged.

Sherriff, you are one mean person. I thought the mental image of Duncan in a kilt would scar me for life. Now, I have to go home and hug my Marauder *sniff*. No, it's OK baby, I won't let the mean person have you . . .

Dear Sheriff,
Please know that the support of the entire MM fold is with you in your time of shock and disbelief. Please know that, while you will probably never forget what you saw today, the starkness and severity of those images will fade until such time as you can more easily push it to the back of your mind.
If there is anything that we can do to help you until then, just let us know.
Sincerely,
Your MM Friends
PS: If you can run a 28 on CT "HD 2" I would greatly appreciate it. :) I might even pay for the data.

Hey Sarge when you do let me know if I can help..................:D
Boy, talk about a "project car"! But when you are through, it could be one heck of a machine with the right time and money put into it. Sarge has never been hesitant to invest in his ride, so I'll be watching to see what comes of this in the future. First, go get that car, Sarge!

Sheriff you should take better care of your car. I know it's roomy, but there are laws against living in your car.

Let us observe a moment of silence for the still sick and suffering. :depress:
And duhtroll, that remark insinuating that someone on this board, let alone Todd, would do that to a Marauder, even as an experiment, was way out of line! Besides there are people here that are sick with grief right now. :nono:
Try to be a little more sensitive in the future, OK? :)
Sherrif, you can call on be if you need a deputy in the Tampa/St.Pete area on this case. :shot:

Surely, there has been a crime committed here. Vehicular Abuse in the 1st degree comes to mind ... How about Marauder Manslaughter? :nono: 20-to-Life with no parole???
Pulleeeease do not post photos ... the descriptive images are too much to handle. :puke:
I'm surprised that there wasn't a bumper sticker on it proclaiming that "My other car is a POS, too!!"
From the typical Marauder Owner profile ... this individual may come from "The Really Dark Side" or "Bizarro World". :baaa:

Never be able to get a conviction. As with most all criminal acts, "intent" is a major element of a successful conviction. The defense attorney would argue that no sane person would intentionally do this to a car. :D
