Wiper tension (to the windshield) adjustment

I've searched, and for those who have seen me inquire about 'stuff' I'm not the most mechanically inclined. I can't seem to find a topic on adjusting the tension or pressure applied by a wiper to the windshield. My drivers side wiper doesn't apply enough pressure to the windshield to remove the water. It kinda skips or skims over. Thought it was a bad blade, and replaced that but is still doing the same thing. I noticed it isn't 'hugging' the windshield like the passenger side. Any advice or if there's a topic already, can someone point me to it? Thanks as always. :beer:

There is no tension adjustment. Either the spring is weak or the arm is damaged. Either way the arm needs replacement.

Show us a picture of your wiper blade

I had the solid body blades and they worked awesome for the last 2 years

I tore one this past ice storm and swapped on some brand new "see thru" body blades and THEY SUCK. Skip and miss 1/4 of the wiper to glass

Try some better solid body winter type blades, or blades with the aero curve to it

Well hell. Ok. Going to get some motor craft blades as i'm hoping the replacement just sucks. I'll ask about an arm in anticipation of it being bad.

You got wiper blade, you may need a new wiper arm due to spring tension worn., but first try them out. Also clean your windshield with a cleaner you can get at the grocery store in the cleaning products section. called Bar Keepers friend..it's a white powder you mix with a little water to get damp and scrub it good and it removes road grime film and stuff off windshield that carwashing does not remove or windex or windshield washer fluid.

Will do. Tired it out, and wipes better - but talking with the ford parts guy he mentioned those arms were sketchy for that. I'll likely replace it - if I can find one as they are not manufactured. Wonder if the above link recommended by others may have one? Just want 'Micky' to be in the best shape while keeping most things original. Thanks for the advice!

tascaparts.com (longtime Ford dealer in RI) just get wiper arms for a crownvic or grand marquis of same year. They are exact same.

I replaced the arms on my car, they were not in great shape cosmetically. Not too bad money wise and a big improvement
