Just picked up a 2k3 marauder, 13k miles.. and I LOVE it...

I've noticed sometimes though that when I turn it off, I hear a noise from the engine for 2-3 seconds, kind of like some kind of electrical motor running or fan, but the sound is more like something knocking, like plastic against plastic.. Not sure if it's just a fan or something. (I'm so NOT an enginehead)

Is this normal or does it sound like something's broken ?

Thanks In advance..

Don't take my word for it, but you may be hearing the air compressor running for the rear air suspension. If it's anything else, then I'd get it checked out.

It's pretty normal to hear the engine's cooling fan spinning down after you shut down, but you shouldn't be hearing any knocking. If it's not the air suspension pump as Constable suggested, then I'd check to make sure the fan is spinning free and not touching the shroud at all. A quick visual inspection of all rotating parts underneath the hood should tell you if you have anything touching anywhere.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

It *does* sound like an air compressor !!! So logically, it most likely is.. I'll take a peek under the hood anyways just to make sure.. Thanks for the help :)

In addition to Fourth's suggestion, it might be a good idea to make sure the engine is off and VERY cool to avoid any surprise activation of the fan.
