Ya know what I luv about owning a Supercharged V8 daily driver? No other daily driver that will likely be encountered, will keep up w/it. I'm beginning to relate to MAC's comment that he shared awhile back here on the board about his car that "it's never been beat yet".......

What's even better about what happened tonight, is that the Caddy XLR driver was the one who initiated the challenge . I did give em some bate though, and he fell for it hook, line, and sinker.........

I'm waiting for a traffic light to turn green while I sat in my MM on a side street. The light turns green, and as I take a right onto the main road, I see this Caddy XLR coming to a stop on that same main road since he had the red light. And knowing that he would be headed my way when he got the green, I gave it just enough gas to let him hear those Kooks headers, and Magnaflow mufflers sound off, but not enough to alert him to how good my car really goes.I just kept it at about one third pedal, and between 3000, and 4,000 RPM's to let him hear that V8 engine growl at him. As I pulled away, I watched him in my rear view every once in awhile. It's a street w/long straight aways.......

So I made sure not to go too fast so that he would catch up to me at the next light. Well it didn't take him very long to catch up. He was obviously intending to do so. At the next light it stayed green. Not good. But the next one after that turned red. "Nice" I say to myself.

Perfect conditions. Open road. Well lit, but late at night so there isn't any traffic. This is the same road I encountered some other motorists on, and I know it well since I travel it every night. It's one of those main routes, where the limit is 45MPH, but it's so wide-open and roomy that everyone does 60MPH. He pulls up along side me at the red light, but almost a half car length behind. I play it cool and take off mellow when the light turns green, and he hammers the gas and jumps in front of me about a half car length, while the lady in his passenger seat is looking at me w/a grin as they're going by as if to say "Bye BYE Blackbird".

That did it. I heard the Supercharger say to me "I want air, and I want it now!!!" .....so now that we were already doing about 25 MPH, I knew my street tires could handle some boost w/out a fishtail errupting nor any serious tire spin, so I eased into a half-pedal position as I looked at his lady watch me go by while I was now passing them. As soon as I got a half car length ahead of them(now doing about 40MPH) I saw that he was trying to keep up, and then I heard the Supercharger say "Feed ME Seymour!!!!" So I thought I'd show him and his lady what quick looks like, and I hammered the noise pedal as my Magnaflows said to them "SEEEEEEEE-Ya" and before I knew it, I was 10 car lengths ahead of them and doing 80MPH, so it was then time to let off, and mellow out.

I tapered down to a cruising speed of 50MPH, and even though he gave up trying by then, he was cruising a bit faster then me which is what I wanted anyway. As they go by me I just stomp on the noise pedal again, but I just stabbed it for a half second and backed off immediately to give him a bark off the Magnaflows. And as they pass by me, his lady is looking at me again still w/a grin on her face.

One Caddy XLR toasted and embarrassed.:D:flamer:

Billy, have you thought about putting fender badges on the side of your Marauder from the kills that you have gotten. Sort of like the World War II fighter planes. I know the accumulation of manufactures badges could get high since you installed the supercharger. So try to be selective and leaving room for exotics like BMW, Mercedes, and Lotus.

Does it have the cooling systems mod? What does it say? Perhaps it wouldn't mind talking to the microwave. Mine keeps telling me to feed it the cat.

:rasta:LOL, yeah Merc, I can have a set of shark's teeth painted on the nose of my MM too just like those fighter planes had. I wouldn't have messed w/him if he didn't challenge me. But even though I was kinda hoping that he did, I was a bit surprised. Maybe he just got the car, and wanted to give it's 320 HP rating a good test. But whatever the case, I've found that I don't get very many motorists challenging me since I put the new exhaust on last year.

Yea that's the problem it keeps talking nosense and whining. None of the other appliances want anything to do with it.

LOL, time to get the wallet out JD. It's a hopeless fight. You're a gonner now. I know the feeling man. When I felt the urge, it was only two weeks later that I found myself under the hood at my brother's house installing the Supercharger.

Hey Bill,

For the sake of us who are from CT and who might actually know the roads you are running please give a street name from time to time.

Who knows? I might just start crusing your way from New Britain.

Best,

Dan

Maraudered a Caddy XLR

This just occurred to me. Check it out...

Maraudered =/> Murdered
Murdered = Killed
Therefore, Marauder is =/> KILL.

Nice math, huh?

Dan, it's route 34 that I'm speaking of, and after 1:00am there's no traffic on it(but especially on a weeknight). However there are parts of it this past week where the troopers are using radar simply because some drunk killed himself last week by smashing his car into the cemetary on that road. You just have to know where you can play, and where you can't.(it also helps that I have immediate family on the force, although I try not abuse that. I get pulled over about once per year, and I've never even used nor owned a radar detector.)

Ahh, Rt 34. I know where that is. You must be in between Derby and New Havnen. That is a great, great road for light 2 light action.

BTW- I called you and left a message at the 5582 numbrer. I hope it is the right one. Please call me back when you get the chance.

Best,

Dan

Hey, Congradulations on the kill man! Everytime I hear these stories, I cringe because I know that's where I need to be. We pretty much know what each of the Marauder tuners are offering at this point. However, I wonder if Kenny Brown has anything else he plans to offer for our cars as last I heard, they were working on a way to increase displacement.................

BillyGman
05-29-2004, 03:08 AM
I'm all for increasing displacement, however IMO it has to be a significant increase. I mean atleast to 5.4L (330 cubes). otherwise it isn't even worth the extra hassle and $$. I hear guys talking about going from 4.6L to 5.0, and I laugh at that. Don't even bother if that's all you'll get out of it.

But now that I have a S/ced marauder, all I can tell you is that I cannot speak for the centrifugal S/Cer like the Kenny Brown cars have, since I do NOT have that type of S/Cer on my car, but as far as the roots type S/Cers like the Trilogy/Eaton ones, you really don't need to worry about increasing the displacement if your car is equipped w/one of those. I mean the car will go like it had a big block under the hood. otherwise, w/ the N/A Marauders, yes, going to a 5.4L displacement would be excellent IF you can figure out how to do that, cuz nobody has to my knowledge.

Kenny Brown seems to have gotten quiet, but I always understood that their current supercharger package is like their "stage 1" with their next stage of stuff coming soon for the Marauders which I thought would include a way to increase displacement, and strengthen the internals. Anyone here with a Kenny Brown Marauder S know of any updates from KB? Supercharging is inevitable for me, and I will probably do a Trilogy setup since i'm more familiar with the Roots type setup. Of course, I also like how the Eaton Roots type blower is a sealed unit with it's internal lubrication which means no oil lines and other stuff need to be run.

BillyGman
05-29-2004, 06:01 PM
Hmmm, that's a good point about the Trilogy/Eaton S/Cer being a sealed unit. I know that it was nice that I didn't have to tap into the oil pan nor anywhere else for lubrication of the S/Cer when I installed my S/Cer. I don't think that's neccessarily a bottom line selling point for the Eaton S/cer, but it IS a nice fringe benefit though.

I also like the fact that Eaton(to my knowledge) is the only company in the last 15 years, who has been the choice of a number of car manufactures for factory stock S/Cing. The only lone acception to that rule to my knowledge is the 2005 Ford GT which has a twin-screw type "Lysholm" S/Cer. If there are any other exceptions, then it would be news to me, and they would be isolated and rare as far as I know. And the Ford GT isn't a mass produced car. They're supposed to be merely producing 1500 of them per year for the next three years. So that is a totally different story anyway which concerns an application that is barely what you would consider factory stock, or "Production" stock.

Therefore there are no durability issues w/the Eaton S/Cers as a result of their self-lubricating sealed S/Cer design. That's been proven in a number of factory cars w/Eaton S/Cers, such as in Ford, Buick, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Jaguar cars, all of which have had Eaton S/Cers from the factory as OEM equippment. According to my studies, no other S/Cer company has secured long-term manufacturing contracts w/five major car companies like Eaton has done be they roots type, twin-screw type, or centrifugal type S/Cer companies.

The Eaton S/Cer has been around for awhile, so that company has spent many years to perfect and design their product, and since Ford has used their S/Cers since 1989 to the present, Buick from 92-95, Mercedes, and Jaguar from 95 to present, Eaton has had their research and development phases fully funded for decades now, unlike many other companies that manufacture S/Cers. So nobody can say that Eaton is by any means a fly-by-night company, nor even a run-of-the-mill manufacture in the way of Supercharging. During my research on Supercharging for the street, before I decided on the Trilogy/Eaton set-up, I was thoroughly impressed in a positive way w/everything that I read about Eaton's Superchargers. And what I read not only included info from Magnuson/Eaton, but also from several other sources that have no financial ties to that company, nor business links to them.

So all of these are just some of the reasons why I decided to choose the Trilogy set-up. Well, I had no intention of turning this into a Trilogy thread, but I'm simply speaking in response to a previous post. While I'm on the subject, here's a link to the Magnuson/Eaton site where you can get a look at the "M112" model Supercharger model that the Trilogy kit includes.......Magnuson is the distribution company for all non-OEM aftermarket Eaton blowers, as well as also being a rebuilder of them too. There are presently about 550,000 Eaton S/Cers in the field today world wide. That includes factory stock set-ups as well as aftermarket. Again, I find that to be quite impressive. No other supercharger manufacture has come close to that accomplishment......
