Like the soup Nazi, there is a garage Nazi.

I was looking for a new local shop to do mechanic work so in October I brought the Marauder out for a new alignment to carfixer's specs and to get the original front tires rotated on the rims. They had to be dismounted to get the outer tread on the inside. The alignment went well, but when I then washed the car and put it into winter storage I noticed the shop dinged one of my chrome wheels. They had been perfect and actually were never even dismounted from the car since it left the factory. I chalked this up to wear and tear but planned to drop in the shop to let them know. I had not got around to doing so until I had a need to visit them which occurred this weekend. Brought my old truck in to have the PS lines replaced since they rusted out. I told the guy about the rim when I dropped off the truck. I was not going to make an issue of it. He was a little defensive but I told him - I'm not asking you to do anything for me, just wanted to give you the feedback.

So the end of the day I get a call back. We won't be able to repair your truck. It's too big a job for us. Replacing some rusted lines. Right...

So I go this morning to get the keys and make him tell me directly. He said it's hard job, sometimes you have to drop the rack and maybe even replace it. Ok, I told him I'll bring him the next easy job I have. Not.

It's hard enough to find a decent shop.

I was under the impression the BFGs are directional & can't be rotated.

I think they were being dismounted and remounted so they'd keep spinning the same direction.

Anyhow, sounds like you're better off without that shop!

I thought the stock wheels were anodized?

If they were cleared, we would have clear coat flaking issues???

I must be lucky because my wheels clearcoat is fine.

Page 174 in the owners manual states the wheels are clearcoated.

Check out gdmjoe's extensive website on the marauder, then download the owners manual, go to the cleaning section, pg 174.

I have 5 marauders, zero clearcoat issues. Even curb checks :(

Maybe restored wheels are having issues???

When I had mine reversed for the inside wear, I had a tire shop tell me that used tires can be mounted in reverse direction for more life, but may produce more road noise, but to mount in direction stated when new.
