Okay... I am having a steering issue. While turning the steering wheel, there are times I get a lot of resistance and times I get almost no resistance. The wheels are still turning, but just the force required to do so changes. I replaced the linkage next to the exhaust manifold with one from an 2007 CVPI. I still have the same issue. Is it the steering rack? Is it the pump? Any advice would be helpful.

The Marauders have VAPS "Variable assist power steering". Mine went out and Ford replaced under warranty at 30K. It sounds like something similar to my issue. I'm not sure the CVPI's have the same system.

They do. I've been reading... seems to be a common issue. I may need to clean up a connector.

If that fails, a wrecking yard is probably your best bet. The warranty co. paid Ford almost $1800 and replaced the whole ball of wax IIRC.

Well thankfully, I have an 07 CVPI sitting next to my garage with the engine already pulled. So if I do have to replace the rack, I don't have to go far to get it.
