Just more regulatory obstacles from NY to allow them to get more revenue when you get pulled over and / or pay more in insurance rates. I believe it has always been 70% in NY, so that hasn't changed. It is just now that they are making the inspection locations look to test it.

My remaining friends in New York tell me that this has been a big prinkrm for them.
It was a prinkrm for my mini truck club years ago, but after everybody tinted their windows it kinda went away. Leo's tell me that it's an entry level infraction now. That is if they want to get a closer look at you, they use window tint as a reason to stop you.

What the heck is a prinkrm?
Prinkrm happens when your driving on a bumpy road while texting with one hand and holding the steering wheel with the other.
There are other combinations I'm sure.
Clear text = Marauder, Prinkrmized = "Mstsifrr".

In Nevada, even the Highway Patrol tint their windows.

My friend who does my inspections said that they received notice about it and had to purchase a tint meter for the inspections. All my vehicles are tinted and I've driven past police without them looking twice. Tint laws have been on the books for years that anything on the front side windows more then 70% is illegal. My friend said he will overlook everything but a tinted windshield.

In New Jersey 8 years ago when I move here they made me remove the tint for inspection.
Now its no big deal.
Go figure

Mine passes since the tint is at the legal maximum percentage. Adds $10.00 to the cost of inspection.

Oh yeah? When I first got my car I had all 5 windows tinted. Some cop kept pulling me over until I took off the tint on the front 2 windows. While it looks nice with any tint, not having the front windows makes me look like a taxi/limo and i always resented it. Is it time to get it redone? (the rears are starting to fade a bit...)
