Hey guys, been a long time fan of the car and have just gotten a 2004 4 weeks ago with 122k miles. Bought the car knowing it had some problems like chain rattle at start up and wanted to share the guts of the repair. My chain rattled at startup and when the mechanic got down there he said the tensioner arm had broken off and some mesh had gone into the oil pan. But all is good now and had tensioners, arms, chains, gears, seals, gaskets, ect, blah blah. Tranny flushed, along with the brake fluid and coolant and power steering. New Pads and Jlt intake. Car is amazing and everything I have expected it to be. So happy I got it. But... I have a few questions but I don't know if this is the correct area to post so be nice.
Trunk key hole doesn't turn, (key goes in but won't turn?) Any solutions on this?
How do the rotors come off? Do they directly slide off the hub or the other kind. Im a novice. Only work I've done is oil change, pads and grease caliper slides, Jlt intake and other minor work. 2 cents is appreciated. Thanks

front rotors, remove calipers (2 metric bolts) then take bracket off (2 metric bolts ) don't let caliper hang by brake line. pull rotor off, often need a pursuader as they get rusty around hub. put some anti seize around hub after cleaning area before reassemble. rear is similar, but you have a mini drum inside rotor for emergency brakes.. they usually need loosened thru the backing plate small oval window plugged with a rubber plug. you adjust the star wheel to loosen before rotor will come off.

The trunk cylinder might just need some wd40.

Who uses the key in the trunk anymore? I thought that hole is where the aftermarket backup camera went?

Yes key works for locks and passcode too. Wouldn't I use a dry lubricant for locks?

If it didn't work for the door, one might assume new ignition key and/or tumbler was installed. Since it works for everything except the trunk lid it could be the lock itself or it could be a replaced trunk lid that didn't get the lock swapped out.

Welcome to the MODNESS!!! Like stated earlier could be the trunk lock is different. Use the trunk release on the drivers door or key fob and spray it with dry lube, spray it in the keyhole and then try the key again. If that does not work you may have to go to a locksmith. Did you try both keys? Good luck. Also come to Louisville in April for a fun time and answers to all your questions and repairs you may not know you need, but can be fixed by us old farts.
