There is a change in part numbers before and after 12/1/03. There is also a significant price difference with the older costing more. Regardless of availability does anyone know what the difference is? I've been searching the archive w/o much success.

the build date for this junk is 10/03 , I'm @135K on original totikos .
The car still drives great , no ill feelings .
The latest test was, 4 dudes, needle buried, (not driving), last July.
rears were replaced @ 60 K , and I know the fronts have to be tired.

Ms.D is about 118K on the OEM front end and it still drives great too. I was talking to the parts guy and he said the MM struts have been superseded to the CV fleet/steel wheels which I thought was cop cars. Upon further investigation the CV police/taxi struts are a different number. I don't know and the parts guy was as puzzled as I was. Sometimes Ford makes me feel :alone:;)

No doubt , when our junk get so old , the burden fall on the aftermarket. I like how the car feels and the shocks have stood the test of time .
So many things I still want to do to this rig before I die.

I have run into the date issue as well. It was Ford's way of delineating between the A's and B's. 11-30-03/12-01-03 is about the date the switch occurred. they mixed A and B parts on individual cars before and after that date. the parts catalog will usually ask for last 8 of VIN to confirm the factory "as built" records.
And yes, the new part number is the recommended replacement part when the actual strut was discontinued years ago. It is supposed to be the closest to original. have not tried them so I'm not sure how close the valving is to original. As for the notation before 11/30/03, its will fit 03/04 fine.
This just contributes to the myth that the MM was a MGM with Police parts installed.

Never heard that myth?
Did police or MGM's have DOHC motors?

I believe he is referring to the suspension Jim as it is a suspension question. The suspension on the Marauder is a hybrid of parts bin goodies so much like the rest of the car. Police parts being some of them. NO SOUP FOR YOU! :P;)

My MM has shocks on the front, so the police "struts" couldn't have been used.

All Panther chassis have a double wishbone front suspension. It is not a "strut" suspension. MacPherson struts are considered struts
