Not trying to start any trouble...so I will keep this as non specific as possible. I have noticed a lately that there a bunch of great upgrades coming out for our cars and I am very excited.....

But I am also concerned....maybe concerned is not the word......eager to hear comparisons or get comparisons of "similar" products as they come out. I know that this may be asking for trouble but has any of our vendors....who do not "Make" these upgrades considered doing a Dyno on all the choices and reporting back??

Hey some people are really intersted in the numbers...increase in HP (If applicable), or design....some people are just flat out interested in looks (TAF- I have seen your engine department, the lens of the Hubble Telescope is not as clean)...some more performance....

It would be nice to kind of get a "Just the facts" kind of report on some of these things......

Again not trying to flame anyone....or really produce bad blood.....I would just like to be an informed consumer...and this seems like a logical way to do it.....

troopcar works for Consumers Union. I nominate her for the post!

One person's facts are another person's proof of conspiracy.

As much as the idea might be sound, it's both impractical and does nothing but generate grief for ME...Which I don't enjoy.

At the end of the day, it's up to the consumer to make their own decisions based on the best available information at the time.

Logan....I hear you....and understand your position....no doubt.....

I was trying to gauge if anyone else felt the same.....and I think they do....and ultimately....with all due respect it would probably eliminate a TON of the same posts...Hey what HP did you get? Who thinks "X" is better than "Y"? Do Marto and TAF secretly watch Deliverance together?....you know important stuff....I mean when you get down to it...this forum is about Performance questions and the OVER/UNDER on when TAF and Martyo will kill each other..... :)

For instance....let's say I was interested in buying a new basketball.....pound for pound best one would be like a pro one....IMO...so I would buy Wilson.....but maybe Spalding has some cool colors.....but if wanted to get one that bounces the best...I would be interested in finding out which bounced the highest after they were all bounced from 10 feet....Some people might want the highest bounce....maybe some still by the coolest colors....you get the jist....

Now maybe I am exagerating(and not spelling very well)...but seems like I read more posts about how much HP, How long Install, who is better than who.....to me some of it would be eliminated by a consumer reports type thing.....I get consumer reports....and I don't agree with some of their stuff and have found some things I like better that they did not rate as high...but it would be cool to get a "Jumping off point"

I mean just a "2004 MM no mods......I put on the new Marauder Fender Badges from Logan and got 50 Hp and 78 RWT. Thats it....I mean there are a lot of factors to consider....even after that....but it would be nice to have some kind of idea of what the thing can do....kind of a "Placebo vs. Drug" effect...

I know you can already here the complaining Logan...so I will let it go from here....and I know politically maybe MM.net is not the place....but I would still like to know....might just be me...

Unfortunately, Logan is right that he will eventually have to come in and ride herd on the "my upgrade is better than your upgrade" posts. However, I think the suggestion is very well founded. For example, right now we either have available, or soon to be available 3 different cold air systems. I would love to have one if they were compared side by side and I could see which one gives me my money's worth. It's not easy to get a true comparison if Barry has Paul's kit and Todd has Metco's kit, and someone else will get the K&N kit, when their cars were different to begin with. Oh, well, I guess that's part of what makes it interesting!

Comparison is good, unfortunately, it seems that on here, that starts a war on whose is better. It would be nice just to see facts with no flames, figures with no smart a$$ retorts. We are all adults here and have our favorite mods, vendors etc. BUT, lest history repeat itself, I have to agree with the "boss-man" on this one. If inquiring minds want to know, send either a PM or an e-mail to the particular person whose mod you would like to know about, I know they will quickly reply, and that keeps it off the board!!

Just my .02, I could be wrong

Isn't that the truth

Logan is, as usual, right on here. This "mine is bigger than yours" is a normal enough reaction for competitive folks, and this bunch of " 2%" er's by and large is that. HOWEVER, discussing performance experiences (remember the high school lockerroom?) is different from endless performance comparisons, after the fact, and arguing over who's is better (not just "bigger"). Would you buy a supercharger JUST because everybody else is doing it? We all know that 2 per centers don't just keep up with the Jones's (no particular Jones in mind, you understand). Remember, between friends, "Some nits just ain't worth pickin'", as my ole grandpappy used to say. Let's just all show up at the track in Indy and THEN compare notes, eh?
