I thought I asked before, but no responses and I could not locate that Thread.
Anyway, anyone replaced their gas tank?? What supplier did you use? Fit properly??
Does tank come out without removing the rear, I hope!!
Thnx
First, what reason would you need to replace it?
Yes it comes out without removing the rear end

I've got a gas tank from the '95 Grand Marquis that I parted out some time ago and the gas tank looks great.
but...I don't know the compatibility of all the Panther chassis gas tanks.
If it would work, I'll sell it to you for $50.

Like blown 3.8 said, get new studs from the dealer, when you go to put the new one back in, you think you will be able to use the old studs but it never happens.
New studs are longer and then you snap off the ends once installed. I would get new straps too but that's just me.
My old tank was looking kinda grody plus the new tank was painted gloss black base coat/clear by my buddy that works at a dealership for free.

Part number for these? They are elusive to find on the Ford dealer site.
I've taken tanks out multiple times and never bought new studs

Of course you have.
I also bought new straps, that might have had something to do with it. Could not get the straps to reach the old studs no matter what.
Factory makes long studs that snap off for a reason.
No idea on part numbers go to a Ford dealer.
Or don't, could not care less. YMMV

I replaced my fuel pump in my 96 E-150 last year after 152,000 miles and wire brushed the
bolts and straps then primed and painted them. I remember my dad was driving to work
at Link Belt (Chain Assembler of Escalator and Drive Chains for for Bulldozer's and Cranes) one morning
and the strap or straps broke and the tank hitting the pavement in his 1967 Ford Fairlane Wagon.
I haven't forgotten that incident after many years.

On one of my explorers with plastic gas tank, the straps rotted and I was pulling away from a light and heard this scraping noise I'm like wtf
Pull over and see the fuel tank on the ground lol. Strapped it back up got to garage and made some new straps. I was just thankful it wasn't a steel tank that would have been a real mess.
