Had a coolant change at Ford yesterday now the car just hit 240 degrees and I'm sitting in a parking lot waiting for a tow truck. Any help would be appreciated..

Have them fix it and pay for the tow. Then demand a 100% refund and a free rental while they scratch their heads trying to fix it

Head gasket in the near future????

+1 on the air in the system as stated above. Any coolant on the ground?

no heat due to air pocket not letting coolant circulate

Does anyone think that 240 could've damaged something?

Absolutely

When I hit 240, I felt loss of power. That's when I turned into the lot and turned her off. Just picked her up from Ford and they said it needed to be burped and now it is not overheating. It stays from 190 to 205 now per the scangauge. Sound about right? Anything I should look for for damage?

I agree that you have a massive air bubble in the system.

Aluminum engines don't like 240 degrees! I'd be furious.

call ford customer service, complain they didn't do procedure correct and if there are problems that develop from reaching 240 degrees that they will be paying 100% to fix. get it on record imo.

Any direct customer service numbers?

Update: highway driving 182-193 degrees

City driving: 190-210 degrees

Don't these cars come with failsafe?

RubberCtyRauder

I think factory stat is 195 degrees? or 190?

jmsa540

Ok, so 190-195 is when it opens?

How high can these cars go to until something bad happens?

im not the guy with that answer, i dont have any ford numbers, google ford customer service. and when you finally talk with someone, you want an issue put on record that happened at a ford dealer.

This is yet another reason to get the on3 kit and put the thermostat where it belongs IMHO

That has nothing to do with the not filling the coolant correctly. when you fill from the reservoir it fills the radiator and one side of the thermostat housing and when you fill from the COT it fills the other side of the thermostat and the engine... its just a hard engine to get all the air out of the heads. When I did mine I thought I had it full. The gauge never read hot and I still added over a gallon of coolant through the COT over a couple days and heat cycles. Our cars take 4.75 gallons of coolant which is a lot compared to other cars. (example a 2010 Silverado with a 5.3 take only 3.25 gallons)
