Make a big travel soon, I see that our rating is 1100 pounds with luggage and adults in the car. What is it with a full tank of gas also?

I don't know for sure, but I would assume the numbers you read are including a full tank of gas worth of weight... I think it would be odd for them to not include that in the vehicles weight when loaded specs.
Curious myself now

Curb Weight includes a full tank of gas. Just add passengers and cargo for Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).

Its a Panther car... fill it to the brim, add a roof rack and keep going...if you run out of room... trailer hitch? :dunno:

I thought I always heard they lower these numbers intentionally to sell more SUVs?

Don't worry about the weight............
People have traveled with a complete MM engine in the trunk.

Love the replies hahaha, my initial thought was "Our cars have a max carry weight?" They seem like to much of tanks to be over loaded with merely people and luggage

You should be just fine as far as weight goes.

I wouldn't be terribly concerned with weight. Air bags might not like it if they're old, but the rest of the car won't care.
Had a 1998 P71 that hauled a southbend lathe (big), all the accouterments & several hundred pounds of tooling in the trunk in back seats. Probably approaching 1200lbs with my ass in the drivers seat. Springs sagged, but otherwise the car didn't care one bit.
My '04 P71 sees very similar service once in a while. Doesn't even cross my mind.

I have put 60packs of 12 pack soda in the trunk.
No problem at all.
