The wife and I picked up a 1964 Mercury Montclair Marauder on Thursday locally. It is a black on black four door "coupe" so no post between the side windows. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me. 390 2bbl completely stock and original 57k miles. It is a nice daily not really a show car but nice enough to enjoy. Very excited to have a old school classic to cruise around town and represent the Mercury's of old and new!

3sp or 4 or auto?

390FE 2bbl Auto, cruiser. Had to replace exhaust manifold gaskets (imagine that). Has "custom" exhaust system and a Ford 9" rear end runs smooth pulls nicely for a big car.

Another antique Marauder owner. Glad to see it. Looks straight and with good bumpers. Any rust? What's the interior set up as far as bench seat and fabrics?

This is excellent news. Beautiful car and an excellent match for a black gen 4 car.

White headliner. Everything else is black. Full bench seat, front seat belts but no rear seatbelts.

I noticed it has provisions in the front cowl for windshield washer squirters, there is a "dud" hole in the dash that was never drilled out. I was wondering if that was a option? Not that it should have it, I was just wondering

Not much rust. We put it on the lift and expected rot..... gravel road dust saved the car, no major rust at all!!!! Just a few spots here and there that have been taken care of since 6-9-1964

It's a great car!

It needs a rear bumper at some point. The car is very presentable as is.

It's a great car!

All full size '64 Mercs used the same dash (unless factory air) so the blank spot between the vent and wipers was either for the breezeway window switch, convertible top switch or station wagon power rear window switch.

The windshield washer was an option and was activated by pulling out on the wiper knob. Mine still has the original vinyl reservoir bag on the right front inner fender.

What is the fabric for the seats? No AC? Black vinyl in the summer will be hot. I also have a padded dash.

In case you didn't know there were 8,655 4-dr Montclair Marauders made in '64.

Speed limits weren't 55 in 1964. These things float down the road at 75.

I was just saying that the car drives just fine at 75+. Neil (the owner) said 55 mph to lead the pack in Louisville. I dunno why? It was fine at 80 the day he bought it....

Very fun car :)

Finding reasons not to bring it. The wife drives fast, this is a cruiser.

Beautiful find, man...

Remember, cars back then didn't have split-system brakes, so if a line blows, the pedal goes to the floor. Keep your eyes on all the brake lines, including the hoses.

Yes the single master cylinder is disturbing

Hoses are already purchased, would be nice to see what dual master retains the brake switch... add a booster....

This is why I make sure my parking brake is always in working order. At least it's something.

Have her drive the Marauder and when she gets 2-3 exits ahead then turn around and go 2-3 exits behind you...yeah, it sounds crazy, crazy like a fox!!!
