Today, I drove in to fail my test and knew I would, no need to get into details, but let's just say modified exhaust is a no-no in Chicago. I pulled into the station and told the employee I was ready to fail the test so I could get closer to the waver. The test was taken, the car failed and I started it up, reving it to 2,000 RPM upon start up, the guy liked it.
I asked him "Did you like that noise?"
He said "Yeah man, do it again and the ladies here will like that."
So I reved it again. 3,000 RPM and another employee came out of the office, didn't say a word and just shook my hand. Then 5,000 RPM and the whole staff started cheering in the garage. I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP. The whole staff in the garage was cheering and clapping for me to make more noise with the long tube headers echoing in their garage full of standard cars and standard drivers. I didn't intend to make everyone happy, but they were really smiling.
Finally, on my way out I asked one of them if they liked The Dukes Of Hazard. He said he knew of the show. I pushed the button to play my Dukes Of Hazard/ Dixie Horns while still in the testing station. At this point people started laughing and some workers from south of the boarder starting yelling "Aye aye aye aye!!!" As if they were chanting. I don't think they knew what the dixie horns meant, but they liked him. On the way out a sista was by the garge door and asked..
"Where dat horn at?"
I made it go off again in the garage and she smiled. The whole staff reached like I brought candy and a movie to detention. I can't wait to go back to fail and get my waver. This was totally unexpected and too much fun. I guess only I could have fun at an emissions test.

LOL!
Yes...Dom, you should have done a massive power braked burnout!....:burnout:
To paraphrase Apocalypse Now!:
"Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of burned rubber in the morning...It smells like Horsepower!"

Ok folks, here is what you do... you cannot get a reject. Our tunes will make our cars reject the system sometimes, so get a check engine light on.
Last time I unplugged the MAF and made the car run like total garbage wth a code. It failed. Upon my return I plugged it back in as if the car had been repaired, but remember you need two fails... so unplug a cylinder. Go back with a new engine code. It will fail again.
Have a shop make paper work saying you spent $450+ to "repair" these issues. You get your waiver and sticker.
Be sure you know a shop unless you feel like spending the money.
So yes, break the car to pass the test.
Enjoy!

Mine was broken so I went Honk, Honk, Honk. She laughed so hard she passed me and I got the Brake Tag!

Down here they shut down the emissions testing about 20 years ago maybe longer. All the employees had a price... All of them... You wanna pass, you had to $$$... No questions asked... Pretty good racket...

Good luck pulling the same stunt in 2 years again. I believe each VIN is only allowed 1 waiver, period.

I'll let you know the results next week.
They do a visual inspection, so do a write up on things that aren't obvious as exhaust parts. MAF, O2's, C.O.P.S., stuff like that.
