View Full Version : Interior chime will not go away.

The chime is coming from the LCM. It's the chime for a bad air bag. I know the because it first made the noise when I moved the car with no steering wheel attached... yea.

So every 30 minutes it will make this slow chime 5 times in a row for 5 times... so it's like a little over a minute of this. The seat belt chime is fast, this one is slow.

I have changed the clock spring and air bag. Clock spring was a junkyard one and the air bag belonged to someone else that I used for testing to see if I could make those noise go away, it won't.

One person said maybe my ignition is worn, but I would think if anything was wrong with the ignition, it wouldn't start at all.

Does anyone have a new place for me to search or a way to simply silence the LCM? The car drives fine and all lights work. The chime is just annoying to no end.

Thanks in advance.

Possibly air bag light burned out? does it light up when starting or turn ignition on?

Other panther cars have had same issue, some not all, resulted in bad seat belt pre-tensioner, check all air bag connections under the seats and occupant sensor in pass seat.

I did change my seat bracket. I'll check that.

Thanks!!!

I had the constant ding ding ding around 6 years ago and it went away after a few days by itself. It has never come back.

Ford will want $90 to tell me it's broken.

Autozone only reads the engine codes.

Am I missing something?

It's not an engine code, it's a PRS (Passenger Restraint System) code.
I had it read when the air bag light came on years ago.

Pull off wire connections until it stops.

That's quite a drive, but you are worth it.

LOL no one wants me after I open my mouth or leave at least $60 on the dresser up front.
