Hello CAMMERS....it has been a long time since checking in here. My dear beloved Beast has been down for about 2 years and it is time for the phoenix to rice from the dust of my garage. I have a question...I got a line on a low mileage complete 04 Cobra motor and I need the down and dirty to make the swap happen. If there is a preferred shop in the area as well I would appreciate the information as well. Thanks folks.

It's a bit more work than a Jerry swap ( only one making brackets) but
Relocate battery to drivers side, relocate power steering resivore, relocate alt, add front heat exchanger pump and resivore for intercooler, relocate fuel regulator plug (extend to go to other side) remove cobra oil cooler and use stock filter adapter, custom cot, relocate under hood fuse box ( basically rotate it) and some things I might have missed
You're going to change the entire front dress to make it happen

That's how this MM got boost, we did the swap and didn't have a cobra block

Tom Doan did this swap wayyyyy back when.
I can't remember who did the swap for him, but Tom lives in the Burtonsville, Md area.
I'll check his profile to see if he's logged in recently.

So would a rebuild and boost be more economical?

If you have the cobra block most people might keep that, but I take the forged internals of that block replace the bearings rings and check it out, put those in tiles inside your aluminum block from the martyr then take the external parts of the cobra. It was nice to have the cobra crossover tube and the marauder crossover tube to make one, to fit under the snout and go towards the driver side radiator connection

I don't have anything right now. Just weighing the pros and cons of a rebuild versus a swap.

Don't forget to add in labor, you can do your own, sounds like the OP does not, so prolly double the $ to be more closely estimated.

I'm not close, don't have time off to use, my car is going there. it will be transported by a well known carrier in about 4-5 weeks for blower porting etc. and other items i want done.

My vote is rebuild your current engine, what happend to the original engine?

Seneca,
One of two things I was told happened. Spun a bearing or threw a rod. It sounds like a freaking jackhammer. Ran fine before I dropped it off for a simple road force Balance job and went to start...it hesitated started and broke all in one action. I know the folks that had it broke it but cannot prove it.:mad2:
I have been quoted 5k for the pull rebuild install and tune. If I can get a cobra takeout with everything still attached...make sense to get it for a few grand more.

What he said....
Or send and have him rebuild your motor.

Looking into transport companies now. If it is going to be done...it needs to be done by someone that knows these cars.

Livernois (https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/ENGINES-SHORT-LONG-BLOCKS) is your friend. You can custom pick the forged internals (crank, cam, pistons, rods, rocker followers, etc...) or buy something ready off-the-shelf. Their testing (xray, cryo-freeze forged components, meticulous measurements) all help ensure a motor will last. Best of all, you leave all the parts needing relocating right where they are.
Another choice is what Lifespeed did - sent his stock motor to Livernois to rebuild, test and sent back to him. PM Lifespeed and ask for his thoughts and pictures of the finished product.
Um, you are planning to rebuild or upgrade your transmission and torque converter, yes?
Have your selection sent to MartyO

wiring harness does not swap when doing a motor swap, nor does the plumbing..His car is fixed now. You have a damaged motor, your harness is fine..either find a used marauder or aviator or mach 1 motor and swap the marauder specific stuff over or rebuild yours
