Stock windows are tinted from the factory. I added tint up to the legal maximum for my state.

There is a website you can Google that lists the window tint laws for every state in the country. I don't have the website address at the moment but you'll have no trouble finding it. It lists the laws that actually , not the laws that people think exist. My Marauder has stock glass but here in Indiana I could have the whole car tinted out. I can have fairly dark tint on the back window , a lighter tint on the rear side windows and lighter still on the front side windows. The exact tint percentages are called out in the law. The question I would have for you is what happens if you bring a car into your state and want to register it with tinted windows? Do you have to have the tint stripped off before you can register the car?

By the way, I have learned that tinting the back window dark is a bad idea, because if you are as old as I am backing up at night is a b****. And that is even with some pretty high-powered LEDs in the back up lights.

I have never had anyone say anything about tint during a inspection, living in or around the city is probably different though. They are normally stricter.

35% is the limit here in Chicago.

I have 5% and was questioned by the police once.

I told him I hate people, he walked away laughing. No ticket.

If you want tint try a shop in NJ. I don't know any in the NYC area, but Blackened 300a might be able to point out a good shop.

Unfortunately my inspection is up in 2 weeks and I have to remove my tint in order to pass. I am in Syracuse. I'll just have it reapplied when done with inspection. I have gotten pulled over once by NYSP. Told them I only drive it on the weekends. He said..No problem. No tickets issued. My tint now is actually to dark to drive at night. I have to have the window down to take a corner. [emoji2]

Going to remove all 4 sides and leave the back window tinted. Tint cannot block more then 30% of light. If I go the legal way and retint and keep the back window tinted (legal) it just might offset the sides to look a little darker.

For those that have to remove tint. You can make it a 10 min. job per door. Go to Walmart and get a portable steamer for clothes. (they will be by the clothes irons) they should have 1 or 3 in stock. i bought a $20 model. use it to steam the inside of the window, start with windoe down about an inch. it does create quite a bit of condensation so you may want to tuck some paper towels in the bottom egde, and have some towels handy. steam up the whole thing and go to top and reheat an area and start peeling it off. steady pulling as you heat up. it will come off glue and all in one piece. no razors, no solvents. i did 2 windows on my daily driver in half an hour.

I like the way the Marauder looks WITHOUT TINT. I had mine removed. Not a DD so no flaming needed. Car is visually smaller with out tint.

I never tint anything on my vehicles.... But I live in NY and it is a violation. I never want to give LEO a reason to pull me over.

From a different perspective, consider this. I recently started riding a motorcycle. I find it VERY helpful to see where a driver is looking to ensure they see me, or are at least paying some sort of attention. Vehicles with tinted windows, make it impossible for me to determine who or what is driving, much less where they are looking.

*****, even when people are looking at me, they still do unreasonable things.

I do think a lot of vehicles look cool tinted.

I picked up a truck in Oklahoma and brought it back up North. It rains a lot and is dark a lot here.... I drove it for a few months and took a trip to Connecticut with the windows still tinted. It rained most of the way at night. I COULD NOT SEE ****. Took all the tint off at my Brothers house.

Just my experiences out there in life. Who knows how long it will last.....

I feel the same way Joe......these clowns down here will pull out in front of ya and it does seem to help if ya can at least see 'em!!:shake:

Some are tinted so dark ya can't see through the vehicle at all......cops down here tint 'em dark too!!

Removed my tint yesterday. Steamed it off. I couldn't drive it at night it was so dark. I did like the way it looked but was definitely a safety concerns of mine. Will be keeping it off. Plus don't need to attract to much attention to myself. It was a weekly event getting pulled over by NYSP because of it. They always let me go but just don't want the hassel.

I second that opinion. I have 35% on the back glass & can't see much out of it.
Thinking of removing all the after-market tint.

I'm tired of the tint I've had it on the car since it was new in 04 , looking forward to going back to the factory tint for the clean look.
