I am looking to purchase an 04 MM in the next couple of days. I did a search but didn't find what I am looking for. I am wondering what is the insurance symbol on a MM? My 03 Cobra is a 26 and my 04 Mach 1 is a 25. I am hoping the MM is lower than the Mach I am trading in.
Also, I heard of and found info on 300A and 300B. I've found a production date of 5/04 that still says 300A on the window sticker. I know the options make the car a 300B,but why isn't the car listed as such?
thanks in advance

thanks in advance2003 had a 300A and a 300B. 2004 only has a 300A since no feature changes were made to the car during the production run.
2004 300A has the same features as the 2003 300B. Got it?
Good luck!

First off, Welcome aboard. You could check with insurance agent to see what catagory it fall sunder. The number could be lower than both Stangs.

My MM is registered as a Grand Marquis. Even at the dealer that is what it is called.

Thanks for the welocme. This is a great site with alot of info.
I tried to get through to my insurance agent on fri, but I was unable to reach them, and being a holiday weekend I wouldn't be able to talk to them until tues. Might be doing the deal today, (i think car dealers are open). There is a Ford Motor credit rebate that ends on 6/1. That's why I was pressed for time.
If the MM is rated as a Grand Marquis It will definately be cheaper..
thanks again

Sonic - Welcome aboard. :D Many insurance companies rate the 2003 Marauder as a Grand Marquis. It was my understanding that the 2004 had distinctive VIN number indicating it is a Marauder. Good luck with your purchase.

Don't worry too much about a rebate that ends today. Tomorrow brings a new month and new rebates. The June rebates will likely be better anyway---as the summer goes on they traditionily get better and better.

"Well Bill, if you don't decide to buy the car today, just keep in mind that I cannot garantee that the rebate will still be available come tomorrow, since that's when it ends".
So many salesmen are dirtballs. They try to pressure you into buying the car NOW, and this is just one of the tactics they use. Yes, it's true that the rebates DO have expiration dates, and that the salesmen never know exactly what the rebate figure will be after the current one ends. But they're only telling you part of the story. What they intentionally leave out, is the fact that not only does a new rebate begin on the next day, but on a car like the Marauder, which isn't selling like hot cakes, and never has simply because mostly everyone these days wants a truck, or a wrong-wheel-drive car, the rebate rarely goes down when it is renewed on the following day of the expiration, usually stays the same, and sometimes even increases.

When in doubt reagarding the rebates, just call Mercury Marketing for the answer. I called just before the rebate expired. They could not tell me that day what the new rebate program would be, but they did call at 8:00AM the next day to tell me.

It's all a matter of what the market is like. Supply & demand. Since I've purchased my Marauder a year ago, I haven't really looked around at any dealers since I had no reason to, but I'm constantly reading other members posts on here about dealers all over the place having atleast one or two Marauders sitting on their lots that have reportedly been sitting there for a good part of a year.
And it's a well known fact that niether Crown Vics, Marquis, nor Marauders sell very well at all, just as no big RWD V8 cars do. Even some of the dishonest car salesman have admitted that to me when I was shopping around for a car (however that was probably only because they must have known that I already know that, and I was simply trying to test their honesty or lack thereof by that question). So as long as that's the case w/these cars, Ford will always give incentives in the form of customer rebates, and quite sizeable ones at that. it's simply a matter of business. They need to move these cars. So it's a buyer's market when it comes to Marauders. Atleast for now. Some day that will come to an end since production of these cars will end for good in June.

The regular rebate for $3500 is good until the 30th of June, the one that expires 6/1 is the rebate of $1000 if you finance through Ford Motor Credit. I qualify for D-plan, but I'll take evry bit of incentive and rebate I can get. It would be great if the FMCrebate goes up as of 6/2. I may hold out and see what happens after 6/30

2 things:
#1. You can call the credit department at the dealer, and ask them point blank if it's common for the credit rebate to be renewed the following day of the expiration date JUST LIKE THE STANDARD FORD INCENTIVE REBATE IS. Make sure that you mention that, so that the person on the line realizes that you know how these things work. Otherwise their deceitful salesmanship might come into play, and they might decide to plat dumb in an effort to get you down there to close a deal.
#2. I wouldn't go the other extreme by waiting until July if i were you IF you definately like Marauders like the rest of us do here. I say this because of the fact that Marauder production will be finished by then for good, and keep in mind that it isn't the dealer who sets the rebate, but Ford. And it might NOT be their policy to continue such hefty rebates on cars that are NOT produced any longer.

Thanks for the good advise. I'll give the dealership a call tomorrow. I worked there for 6 years, they have always done right by me. I'll keep everyone updated.

BillyG, you're right about salesmen=dirtball(+/-) but the reason most try to sell NOW is because the most basic tenet of sales is "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". Every good salesman knows if he doesn't try to make the sale now, he's not doing his job now, and probably won't tomorrow either. Most guys that try the sales profession and don't learn that lesson early, aren't succesful salesmen.

Most guys that try the sales profession and don't learn that lesson early, aren't succesful salesmen.Dave, this is how I look at it. You can be assertive, and even agressive w/your sales tactics, w/out being deceitfull. Because every salesman that has been w/me, I was able to see it a mile away, and I think's laughable that they actually think that they're fooling you. And whenever I see that, I then become suspicious of EVERYTHING the guy says thereafter, and he ends up getting hammered w/all my probing questions that wouldn't have otherwise been asked. And at that point, the only reason I would stick around and buy a car from him, is if the car in question is NOT to be found elsewhere. And if that's the case, then he doesn't need to resort to those tactics anyway, because I'll be back to buy the car just the same.
So guys like that become so engulfed in their own greed, that they make their job harder in the longrun. Atleast when they deal w/someone like me, and I know that I'm not the only one who is like that. if a car saleman comes on like too much of a blowhard, I'll very often pick his brain to find out what I want to know, and deliberately go back the next day in hopes of catching him when he's w/another customer, or perhaps when he's not even there so that I can deal w/another person. Which in that case means that even if I do buy the car, he probably lost the sale anyway depending on that particular dealer's policy regarding such matters.

Marlon - My insurance company lists my car as a Marauder, NOT a Grand Marquis. They also list the insurance symbol as "14". Hope this helps.
