So I just put in my second BCM, third for the car counting the factory module. I tried repairing the original which did not last long, after that failure I put in an aftermarket unit (Airtex/Wells I think) and it has now failed. I just put in a Motorcraft module which looks identical to the airtex/wells including all model numbers on the circuit board.
Am I missing something else. I know that BCM issues are very common. Is anyone replacing the blower motor as well (or at least checking current draw)?

I found that the connector had gotten hot, probably from electrical overload or bad connection. The contacts were discolored and scorched, and the plastic retainer had allowed the connector to push out slightly from the shell. I cleaned it and re-inserted, seems to be working ok now.
Such a pain to work on with the valve cover almost against it.

I am going to swap the blower motor. I don't really like swapping parts that I am not sure are bad, but I dislike swapping BCMs even more. It is relatively inexpensive at Rock Auto and easy to swap. I am willing to give it a try.

I will try to do a before and after current draw and report back.

Probably didn't repair your original one correctly. You need alot of heat to get those lugs hot to get a good connection.
I'll take your two old ones, repair one and send it back to you.
PM me if interested.
