What kinds of upgrades affect emissions besides changing up the exhaust manifolds? Im sure there are many.......
Because before I start modifying the engine I dont want to fail the emissions tests in North Jersey.

Really the number one mod that really effects emissions is the complete removal of the catalytic converters. Most other mods such as pulleys, throttle bodies, air filters/cold air kits, plugs etc…. minor bolt-on’s really don’t bother what comes out the tail-pipe. More serious mods like lumpy rough idling big cams and the lack of converters are really what make a car run not so clean. Power train mods like Gears, looser converters also don’t bother emissions testing for the most part. Neither do properly done performance chips.
Larger after market exhaust with Hi-Flow converters are OK too.
I don’t know about other blowers for the MM but I can vouch for the Trilogy that it does not bother one single bit of the MMs emissions. It does not require any exhaust mods at all to gain fully from it. It does not bother OBD-II in any way as well. The EGR and all the evaporative controls stay intact. Even though the Trilogy kit has not acquired a CARB number… it will soon, easily.

thanks for the info
I was really considering to get the Kooks full exhaust upgrade because I think the car needs to sound louder......
However, a supercharger sounds quite nice :)

Has anyone passed a smog test using the Magnaflow high flow cats yet?

Not that I'm overly concerned about that, since I don't have to get my car through emissions testing until 2007 (it's four years for a new car here in CT), however that is an interesting question that Shooter has posed.
