Something is screwy with the site "Search Function" as it is not finding any posts between 2007 and 2016. I have always had good luck using the "Advanced Search" but recently there is a 10 Year Gap in the search history. What's up with that ??

I just did a search for "tire" and I found posts and threads from '03 including every year thru '17.:dunno:

Do the search again and check the details .... something is whacky. I did the "tire" search and got 120 pages and 3000 results. However, every result from page 6 (result 150) and beyond is from 2007 or older. Thus, it picks up only a handful of results (about 4 pages worth) between 2007 and 2016. I can guarantee that "tire" was mentioned more than 100 times in the last 10 years. Something is wrong and it is jumping over lots of results.

Use the advanced search with my screenname and search "Memories" or "Birthday" and you will clearly see the 10 Year Gap.

I posted that the search feature was screwed up a while back and got told it was working okay I guess I am not the only one that the search feature doesn't work for then

Yes, something is all fouled up with Search. It has always worked fine for me. However, many people gave up on it over the years. Now it appears that "Google" is the only reliable option. Damn shame too !!!

You can copy a thread title, put it in the search feature and it won't show the thread in the results
It's terrible

I have never had a problem using search over the past 13-14 years. The current issue is rather recent within the past 5-6 weeks. The switch to https occurred at about that time too. Could be just a coincidence; but something is definitely amiss and it doesn't have anything to do with the number of posts that I have or 1.5 Million total on the site. This problem just started over a month ago.

Ive flushed the search tables and are rebuilding the index now
It will likely take hours if not days to reindex the posts

As an aside
We are currently using VB search - we can switch to SQL full text serach BUT there are downsides
Biggest is that its not as configurable in VB admin

I remember so many posts about "Search function is your friend" etc etc. I have to chuckle a bit at this.

The reindexing appears to be working ... my searches for "memories" and "birthdays" are now picking up those missing 2007-2016 year results.

Thanks !!! :2thumbs:

Thank you.

Up until the recent issue this site had the best search of any!

I appreciate that our concerns are noted and addressed.

I have a question for silver_2000, how fast does that car go?

Which car ?

the corvette in my sig ?
I dont know the top speed but I bought it used.
I flew to Birmingham AL to get it and I had it up to 155 within about 30 min of owning it ... Ive never had it faster than that ...

Scary part is it was still pulling hard at 155 ;-)
