Many are aware of the horrid clips that hold the upper console in (I believe I have the "shorter" console btw). Despite pulling straight down and attempting to be gentle the first time I removed the upper console, one of the clip slots (the part that is attached to the roof of car where the clips go in) broke, and I decided to leave it alone. Pulled the console down again the other day to replace lights, and this time two of the other clip slots broke, so now I can't put the console back up - the plastic on that part (and many other parts of car) is just very brittle at this point. I tried epoxying some magnets to the console and the part of the roof, but the console did not hold tight against the roof. Has anyone else had this issue/found a solution? The part with the clip slots attached to the roof seems like it would require pulling down the roof lining to attempt to replace, much less finding the part...

If you can find the pieces you can "Plastic Weld" it back together with "Plastic Epoxy".....I did this several years ago and it has held OK!!

I bought a new roof attachment bracket but have not installed it yet...since then repaired OEM one still holds OK!!;)

Hope ya can fine the broken pieces and reassemble it!!

Good Luck!!

Yes this happened when doing other work on the car and I did not bother trying to find the pieces unfortunately. On all 3 that broke it's the thin little side that broke off, so I could likely epoxy a straight piece of something else back in place of the actual plastic - will keep this in mind, thanks!

I found an 03 CV LX in the boneyard and took the entire piece but one tab broke. I have an extra console just in case, but yea they're brittle have to be overly cautious with that piece.
