What is this?

Dropped the transmission pan last nite to change the fluid & found this in the bottom of the pan. Anyone have any idea what it is & where it goes?

It's from install at the factory, chuck it and carry on.

Factory plug for the dip stick tube. It means your pan has never in fourteen years been removed is all.

I've heard it referred to as the "lollipop" in the trans pan. Above explanations are what I've heard as well. I'd keep it as a novelty item.
