Here is one for you. $126.99ea for the front and $112.99ea for the rear. They don't list the Marauder yet. These are the prices I got from them. They have the braided brake line set for $166.99.

If you changed just the rotor, would you need new (better?) pads?

Check with Power Stop. That is what I will be puting on my 2000 Merc GM.
They are under $100 per rotor drilled or sloted. Not sure if they have them for the MM yet.

Donny found the best price on the complete Baer system . . .
Wow! Thanks, Todd! I had originally wanted the Baers, but thought they were like a billion dollars! That's actually pretty affordable for Baers! Do you know how many pistons those calipers have?

The calipers are 2 piston...and they'll stop your car on a dime!

Yeah, Todd's car stops when you tell it to...trust me, they're awesome. Of course my Impala SS stops now a lot better than it did before with the powerslot rotors and ceramic pads...not to mention the proportioning valve mod that needs to be done to make the rears worth anything.

Hey Tod! I noticed no listings for the rear calipers, just the rotor set. That answers one question...
but are the FRONT rotors available separately as NBC had originally inquired?

You can get them through you local NAPA auto parts. Expect about $125 for each front and $90 for each rear. However these are not junk rotors. They're made with an extremely hard steel so they'll last and resist warpage more than other drilled and vented rotors. If anybody lives in the Southern Maryland area, come see me at NAPA in Waldorf and I'll give you a discount. Just ask for me and mention the post. Here's the part numbers you can take to your local NAPA.

Hey thanks Stephen, those are the ones (BAERS) I have on the beater Vic! They came highly recommended for severe duty highway driving, and at a great price. My MM is jealous.:P

I think NBC is going for the (slotted/drilled) visual effect as well. Actually I was too.
Your'e right though, Napa is where I got them. Your discount offer is appreciated.

Rear calipers are not available from Baer...yet.

Just buying front rotors? You should call Rick at Baer (602) 233-1411 ext. 22 and ask him...but, I don't think just replacing the rotors would do much performance wise...but, they'd be O.k. for aesthetics, I guess.

Thanks for the tip TAF! Just ordered a set. Got a call from the folks at performancedepot.com immediately after I placed the order to get my preferences on caliper color. Got 'em in gloss black.

Before you install cross-drilled rotors, you need to make sure that you really want to use them. Drilling a rotor introduces a stress riser where cracks can form. Chamfering the hole reduces that stress riser, but only the outside hole is chamfered on a ventilated rotor. This can lead to cracks you can't see until it's too late. I really don't recommend drilled rotors on any car that might be aggressively braked. Baer brakes have the holes cast in with chamfers, so do not suffer from this problem. Autospecialty makes a set of blank rotors for the Impala that have thicker rotor facings and directional vanes. These are the best stock size rotors we can get. I don't know if they make a set for the Marauder, but it would be worth looking into.

You're right on this ^^^. Cheap, slotted/cross-drilled rotors on your car? You get what you pay for. PLUS...the Baers are Guaranteed from warping or cracking.

Does this mean that a complete rear kit is in the works? I know the rears don't do much work, but I'd love bigger rotors and new calipers for the back as well.

Doubtful, with the car being discontinued. Believe me, you'll like the looks with the rear rotors and your OEM calipers painted whatever color you wish.

Ah, you got my hopes up. ;) I'm saving up this winter and hope to be able to buy the kit (including the rear rotors) next spring.

Thanks, Stephen! Just to be clear, these are NOT the Baer "holes cast-in" rotors. What "brand" are these rotors? These rotors have been actually drilled, and not "cast-in" right? Oh, and are these parts "zinc-washed" as well? Anyway, the price sure is right--and YES, your post answers my original question--THANKS!!!

^^^Those mentioned^^^ are just plain heavy duty non-bling Baer rotors.

They are not crossed nor drilled. This is what I use on my beater vic, and let me tell you, there was a marked improvement after the install.

Actually, I'll have to call tech service to make sure they're drilled. I haven't installed any myself yet. The financial belt is pretty tight right now. They are usually drilled, however sometimes certain part numbers are not drilled, but slotted instead. From what I've noticed vehicles that came with cast rotors (like ours) are drilled, and vehicles with composite rotors are only slotted. Either way they do have directional vaines for improved cooling and are made with a much harder grade of steel. Every set of performance rotors I've sold (especially when used with the Carbon Ceramic pads) has always gotten me a very happy customer.

In the end the goal with drilling, slotting, and directional vaines is to improve cooling in order to prevent overheating, brake fade, and brake noise. For the money you simply can't beat them.

Your e-bay ad says (I added the emphasis):

"PREMIUM" Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors for the following GMC vehicles!!

2003-2004 MERCURY MARAUDER

Did I miss something? Is GMC making a Marauder as well as the one I bought from Lincoln-Mercury?

Do you really expect someone to buy your product with that kind of misinformation? Never mind that you just broke the vendor rules again. :shake:
