Hello Everyone,
I just purchased my first MM a 2003 300A (Still trying to figure that out) with 73k on the Odo..
I bought this car with the idea of a weekend Cruise/Bruiser project.. I've always been a fan of these big sedans and finally had a chance to buy one locally for a great price..
Current plans are to replace all the fluids and making sure the Engine and Trans are healthy. Seems previous owner was not keeping up to date with Maintenance or was excessive abusive and i have a strong feeling i have a Timing chain/Tensioner noise coming thru the engine bay..
I already got a JLT intake on the way will start looking into more suspensions and brake mods.. want to make sure it stops and handles great.

Welcome, had chain rattle on start up myself. Your chain tensioners might be worn out if you hear a rattling noise. Big dollars

Welcome. Usually with only 73k the timing chains and tensioners should be ok. Make sure and use the correct type oil filter, it's hard to beat the Motorcraft FL-820S.
300A is early production. About 1/2 way thru 2003 production they changed some features and options then designated it a 300B.

i still have the car... I've just never had such a stubborn car and lost my patience with it. Current the right rear shock blew out so that also needs replacing. i dont know if to go with KYB or the NAAKE kit, but first top mounts are completely seized on the old set and need to get those off.

i would search the naake kit, at least the front portion, alot of unhappy marauder buyers that took it off. The qa1 rear shock is fine though

What does it cost to replace the factory air bags once they fail? Is there a thread on site? Read where the 'In-Tech' motors have a good rep. Had a neighbor at one time long ago who had a FWD Continental - one or more airbags went out and he replaced them with a coil spring setup as I remember. Was a great guy with a first class wife and family. Things started going downhill after he was arrested for discharging his handgun at people trying to break into the Continental during the early hours. Didn't hit them but did get their getaway car. Turned out to be acquaintances of his daughter's boyfriend. Pathetic.

factory air springs are over $300 each as long as they are avail. Aftermarket sources Arnott, and Suncore are much cheaper.

What all is kaput with your car? I see references to a possible dead cylinder, timing chain noise and a collapsed rear air spring.....
