View Full Version : Slow load time on forum pages

Anyone else finding page loading time has increased? Couple days ago when I tried to load MM.net I got "Database error" and no load. I have an old computer so I thought that maybe the issue, but Ms.D couldn't load at work either. Her work computer gave the same message. Now the pages load but sometimes the wait is like 20 seconds. Little window at the bottom of the page says "waiting for MercuryMarauder.net to respond. Was there a site update or something?

I've been seeing it as well. I find that if you stop the page from loading and then hit refresh it comes right up..kind of a pain, so hopefully it'll be back to normal soon.

Yes, seeing same problems. Takes forever to load some pages, others load instantly.

Just noticed the individual members page is now liner(vertical) rather than tabs. Must have been an update that has some bugs.

Yes, very slow on personal laptop, work desktop, and mobile. Thought I was the only one. Who do we contact for something like this?

I thought it was me ... so I sat there and did all the typical stuff on my laptop ... come to realize, I should have checked other sites as they all fly ...

Slow ... Feels like a DTR! :banana2:

Just kidding on the DTR comment .... :D

Let me ask Doug, the Server Admin. Some work was done on the Server the other day.

The back end updates we made shouldn't have impacted website speed.

Is this impacting just few members ? Or all ?

Please try deleting your "cache"

Four different sites on three different wifi set ups/systems. This sucks.

Please try clearing your cache, as Doug said. Also, no one has mentioned what browser they are using. Need more specific details.

If you are NOT having any difficulties, please let us know in this thread as well.

I have had no problems using Safari on my iPad.

Having said that

It has been very slow on my work desktop, my personal laptop at home and on my mobile. I use Google Chrome. At first I thought it was my laptop, but it also occurs on my mobile. So I thought it was my internet. However it also occurs at work on my work computer. I also noticed that it was slow when I am on my mobile at the gym, using the gym wi-fi. I have to click two or three times on the link to get to the next page or I have to hit "refresh" or "reload".

I cleared my cache... Just to clear it as a possibility.

I do use google on all, so guess it could be thier fault!... But every other query on Google is blazing fast.

PS

And when many longtime customers (who have never met) from different parts of the country share with you that there is an issue with a "service," this kind-of in and of itself eliminates user error, especially when using all different devices, different wifi, from different wifi services.

I am happy to help and conduct any outside testing for you. PM me!

I know you're savvy enough to know that the more detail received helps in troubleshooting and narrowing down the variables. That's all we've asked. It's not happening for everybody, hence the questions. Thank you for your details.

I have noticed a much slower load time recently in the past week or more but it was random. I would just x out and reload. But I would never give up on Mercurymarauder.net

Today the speeds seem normal now, the past couple days were real slow after the site was down.

silver_2000

The site went down on Saturday during an Apache upgrade .. if it's been slow since Thursday it's NOT related to the outage or upgrade ...

I just had problems on IE and Chrome. Also noticed the "Posts Since Last Visit" link is missing from the top right menu.

Good catch

that required an updated modification that thankfully was still available

Should be fixed now

Seems to me if things are rockin' along and there is an update and a crash blaming members server speed is a lame response, especially when it's happening all over the country.

I use Firefox and occasionally IE. Today many of the pages loaded more quickly but the page to log in that says "If your browser doesn't somethingerother" took about 30 seconds to load.

Your fixes seem to be on the right track. Keep plugging away at it.:)

Keeping in mind that with established forums, MORE than 90% of the issues are USER related. So therefore it ALWAYS makes sense to check the basics.

All the pages I checked load fine for me here.

To keep the piling on of the Lame Server Admin to a minimum. Ill step out.

If you have a problem report it to Mary. She will report it to me.

Most pages are loading quickly now though I do notice the thingy that spins at the top of the page keeps spinning even though visible text has already loaded. Page still doesn't always take you to the last post if that's what you click on. Takes you quickly to that page and you can scroll down, but still taking it's time completing the intended action. At the bottom of the page "Waiting for MercuryMarauder.net also stays. Both for about 30 seconds, then the page is solid for lack of the proper computer term.

At least one web test site shows MM.net to be faster than 96% of sites.

The biggest issue they suggest to Fix "Leverage browser caching" is something that needs to be implemented in VBulletin and cant easily be done in this Version

I have had no problems using Safari on my iPad.

I was using safari on my iPhone and it was laggy, like I said, had to push each button twice for any page to load.

Seems to be working fine now
