Ugh. Another problem that has me stumped. I finished putting a water pump and thermostat on my 03. Went through the whole bleeding process with thecoolant and car started fine. The next day I tried to drive the car and all I got was one "click" when starting . Tried jumping it thinking it was battery but that didn't work. All lights etc came on but that's it. Took starter and solenoid to be tested and it tested fine. Any ideas?

Loose battery cables. Loose ground to fender
Turn on interior lights and try to crank it over, do the lights dim way down while trying to crank it over?

Starter can test fine off the car, under a load it can fail and not work

Put a meter on the starter while trying to crank it over, if you have 12 volts from the solenoid then I'd say bad starter

Shift it to neutral and try to start it.

Possibly ignition switch? Depends on symptoms

Was it running and starting with no problems before the WPump repairs?

If so, and the starter wasn't touched, etc, it seems more like electrical/battery related.

Well I've tried this so far...,
1. Checked grounds to fender and all connections on battery and starter.
2. Turned interior lights on and tried to start. They did not dim.
3. Tried starting in neutral and nothing.

Here is the weird part. I put the starter and solenoid back on after getting tested and it started right up. Several times. I went ahead and installed a new starter and solenoid just to be on the safe side because I'm pretty sure it's the original unit. Went back to nothing . Only thing I have. Tried is ignition switch

Starter relay in the BJB.

The terminals inside the solenoid are known to get loose over time.

Switch out the big starter relay, with the one next to it in the underhood fuse /relay box.

I got flamed, but FastBlackMerc told me to do it... Bam. It started. I bought a few extra after relays after replacing them all!

So far I've installed a new starter/solenoid, new ignition switch, tried to start it in neutral, checked ground to fender, check for loose battery connections, checked fuses and relays and still nothing. I'm baffled. What is really weird is that this just happened as I was working on something totally unrelated

Do you still get just one click when you turn the key to crank? If the answer is yes is it a very heavy sounding click or just a very light click? Like a relay clicking not the louder sound of a solenoid energizing.
If it is one heavy click I hate to be a killjoy, but it is possible the engine is locked up.

Rock car back and forth in park? Recheck switch relay with a working neighbor relay. Press brake peddle (hard) to floor a few times.

Also was told to (and I did) tap on starter heavily, a few times...

I replaced brake peddle switch and relays, tapped and rocked mine, and haven't had this issue again.

A multimeter will be a big help
Did you reconnect the trigger wire from MLPS(or equivalent) to starter upon replacement? Do you have 12v at that wire when key is in start position?
