Can someone tell me this part number? Since I'm R&R the water pump when it comes in on Wednesday, I thought I might as well change this out as well. Mine has been in there just about 90K miles.

Thanks in advance.

It does not exist. You need a NAPA 109

Norm, the factory thermostat in the Marauder is 188° and is P/N RT-1110

if he has a tune for a 180 stat then he needs a 180 stat, if he does not, then it does not help anything to use one

Thanks; my tune is for a 180 stat and cooler plugs. I'm currently using the cooler Motorcraft plugs, but will be switching to the NGK 4177.

I'll look for the Napa 109. On another forum someone said they used it, but that it was a 190 degree stat, which is why I didn't consider it.

Personally I'd go with a Reisch Performance thermostat.

Here is the why: http://reischeperformance.com/WhyLowTemp.html

170 vs 180 & how your tune should be set: http://reischeperformance.com/tstatinfo.html

I have one installed and my MartyO tune is set for it. I now run much lower temperatures.

NAPA P/N is THM 109

Great, thank you. The Reisch info makes sense, I'm getting Marty's tune so will mention this to him, along with a couple of other things.

I've been just running Prestone 50/50, but the closest it gets to freezing here is about 35 degrees at most.

I thought anti-freeze was always the best coolant, but the article says more water helps in that regard, so I'm thinking half the 50/50 and half distilled water. That would give me a 25% antifreeze solution.

I'll look into that redline wetter stuff as well.

Thanks again.

Geez, it's a pricy SOB tho isn't it? :-). I make it over 600% more than the stock part.

I've been just running Preston 50/50, but the closest it gets to freezing here is about 39 degrees at most.

News flash: Anti-freeze is also Anti-Boil. 50/50 is what you use, period

Yes Zack. News flash: that's why I said "I thought anti-freeze was always the best COOLANT." As in anti-boiling properties?

I was referencing the Reisch article where they recommended a higher concentration of water for better heat dissipation, as long as you maintained a minimum of 20% AF. They were also using something called redline water wetter with that low % coolant.

Just exploring the info on the link provided.

Actually, pure water will remove heat the most efficiently, but is not recommended as you would have no boil-over or corrosion protection. Plus, coolant also contains a lube for the water pump bearing and shaft seal. The lowest recommended concentration of coolant/water is 30/70.

Got it, thanks. I've never used anything other than 50/50. This water wetter stuff has to be a middle ground without as much rust potential I guess. I'll see about the cooler stat as long as I'm in there.
