Would somebody who knows for sure they have the correct oil dipstick measure it for me? I've suspected for a while I have an incorrect one. Give me a measurement in inches from the top of the cap to the full mark and to the add mark. Thanks, appreciate it.

On my 2004, from the top of the tube to the tip of the stick, 30 3/8". Overall length tip to tip is 32 1/4". The steel portion ONLY is 29 1/2". High mark of crosshatch area is 1 7/8" from tip. My part # is 3W33-6750-AD.

I'll follow Bad Merc's layout on my '03:

From the top of the tube to the tip of the stick, 30 7/16". Overall length tip to tip is 32 3/16". The steel portion ONLY is 29 7/16". High mark of crosshatch area is 2 1/16" from tip. (Low mark of crosshatch area is 1 3/16" from tip.) Part number is 3W33-6750-AC. (Bad Merc, I think you might have an extra 3 in there...)

As per your original request, I get 28 3/8" from the top of the tube to max crosshatch, and 29 1/4" to min crosshatch.

Thanks. Appreciate the info. I'm changing the oil today so I will check it.

Well, checks out with your measurements, so, never mind, I must have the right one but appreciate the responses.

Make sure you have the correct dipstick tube as well. If yours is too long or too short, you won't get an accurate reading.

The Marauder engine holds 6 quarts of oil. FYI.

Really? Mine was always happy with 7.5.

I'm not looking to argue, I just find this odd.

And was happy with diesel for how many months?

I remember reading a post here (by Zack, IIRC) that it would take something like 9 quarts to reach the crank, so being fanatical about keeping the level no higher than the FULL mark is kind of pointless.
