Apologies for the multiple posts, I'm doing 10 years worth of work on the car over a few days off / working at home.

Front lower air dam (lower portion of front plastic grill) multiple scratches; rear bumper, gouge from a hit and run driver (caught and cited, which was a nice outcome for once! )

Any recommendations on polishing out the front? Have a buffer, but not sure what will get them out, or at least make them less visible.

On the rear I was going to try cleaning out the gouges with a sharp blade, then filling with plastic epoxy with black colorant added.

Appreciate any ideas, thanks again.

they both need paint to fix, it may lessen some scratches on front by buffing with compound, but not all, rear is down to tge yellow substrate and has cracked paint already

Thanks, afraid of that. I need to have my grill surround repainted anyway, so will ask the body shop about the front anyway. Or, I might tape it off and try to paint it myself. Don't think I could make that lower part of the dam look any worse...

! Thanks for saving me from a mistake there. I'll look into it; the body shop wanted $1000 to fill and paint the gouges on the bumper, which seems a little over the top.

bumper covers around here at the ford dealer autobody shop are $600-700 for full paint. you in Cali..$1000 is prolly about right.

The air dam is less than $100.00, probably cheaper to replace than fix it.

At that price absolutely.
Wait a second, that can't be right. This is my bad. FBM, did you look at the first pic? I shouldn't have referred to it as the air dam. That's the cheap piece of plastic held on with three bolts and a retainer. The picture is of the lower part of the grill. I called it "lower part of the air dam" and shouldn't have done so.

Last time I priced the air dam itself it was considerably less than $100, and I would never paint that anyway.

Sorry for using the wrong term and confusing things.
