SCT X3 LCD screen dim

Went to the track last night. Wanted to add a few degrees timing. Plugged in the X3 and had no screen. Turned on and beeped as usual. No visual.

I called SCT and was told they would send me an RMA (Return Merchandise Approval) and I would pay shipping to them and a $100 fee to repair, out of warrenty period (2010). Asked about a credit to upgrade, No dice.

Display is there, its just so dim it cannot be read.

I think I have used this thing five times and store it safely in the house, only goes in the car when I'm racing or need to make changes.

Any one else have any problems wiht the display screen? any other fixes?

Where was the SCT kept in the car?

LCD screens are somewhat sensitive to heat.

Kept with my laptop computer in the house. Only came out at play time....

I used to be a Butcher by trade, so, not so much with 'delicate' work.

I followed my Fathers old advice. I took it apart. Cleaned it. Put it back together.

It works.
