A/C Problems

Hi I just recently bought a 2003 marauder 2 weeks ago and the A/C was only blowing out of the defrost and the floor. So I looked online and found out about the o-rings so I replaced those, put everything back together and I still have the same problem. Whenever I push the vent button I can hear a small click behind the dash but nothing changes. Does anyone happen to know what is going on? Thank you.

run the EATC self test, it may reveal a code...could be blend door

I tried doing that and all it did was spin the it should every light on the screen and said "888".

The blend door only controls the temperature of the air, not which outlets it comes from.

Can you select floor and defrost separately, or does the air come from both all the time?

888 means end of test, did you follow the procedure fully?

The air comes out of both all the time.


I pushed the "OFF" and the "FLOOR" button at the same time then I pushed the "AUTOMATIC" buttons right away. Did I do something wrong?

test sounds right, no codes must be present.

Could the door possibly be stuck since it has lived at the beach it's entire life?

Sounds like there's an issue with the EATC control head. Air isn't supposed to come out of both floor and defrost unless the FLR-DEF button is pushed.

Ok so the whole eatc unit would have to be replaced right?

You could try jumpering the black vacuum source line to the others and seeing if the individual vacuum motors are responding correctly. Red and Yellow are floor and defrost and blue is the panel vent motor. White is the fresh/recirc door but that doesn't seem to be in play here.

It works! Thank you everyone for all you help. I blew in and out on the ports of the EATC, plugged it back in and it works flawlessly, they must have been clogged or something.

Think of all the money you just saved...if you had brought it to a dealer, they would have just replaced the EATC and charged you $700 plus labour...
